ARGHH!!!! F*&king Power Commanders!!!
Got my PCIIIR back from DynoJet today... Of course they said they tested it and and that it worked perfectly.
Any guesses as to how well it worked when I reinstalled it on my bike??????
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No change.... Same f&@king problem...! Can't communicate with the PCIIIR from a PC. I tried two different computers, one with Win95, and another with Win2000. No dice. Tried everything I could think of. Tried to connect with the bike running and with it off. Tried switching the com port baud rate to 2400 and 9600 etc... Actually made a connection at 2400 baud a couple of times, but the connection lasted for only a second each time.
So, I called DynoJet... Actually talked to the tech that bench checked the PCIIIR. Asked him what the baud rate etc. was supposed to be for com 1. He had no clue. Surprise. He asked me several question - all were obvious and had already been considered. He said he didn't understand why it wasn't working because it worked when he tested it. I said it may have worked fine on the bench (ideal conditions) but it sure as hell wasn't working in real world conditions (installed on a bike). I suggested that they may want to re-evaluate their testing procedures and examine how effective they are at duplicating/indentifing real world problems.
Well, he said I can send this PCIIIR back and they will replace it with a new one. NO shit! Imagine that! I knew this was going to be the case as soon as Doug Duane (from FastTrax - Approved PC tunning center) told me the thing was toaste when he tried to install it. I knew this was going to be the case because of how many other stories have I heard from dudes on these boards with the same exact problem telling the exact same story. But no I had to go through their (DynoJets) process and have my chain yanked and my time wasted.
Send it back let them test it - let them tell me it works fine when I already know it doesn't - get it back and reinstall it to have my suspicions confirmed - call them up and listen to the scratch their heads - have them tell me to send it back and they'll replace it.... and on and on....
I'm considering sending it back to Spencer Cycle and having it swapped for a Yosh EMS. Considering that I may get another "Brick" back from DynoJet - this may be a better option....
