oil moving up stator wires?
just noticed post over on another board. anyone here having this problem? mine is full of oil up at the connectors as well as being all over the side of toolbox. anybody know of any fixes coming from kawasaki yet? bike is sidelined for now til remedied. thanks for any info

Just talked to my dealer and sofar nothing.
I fixed mine with some miner surgery to the wiring loom.
Step 1 unhook the plug in the tail.
Step 2 Remove the stater cover and remove the wiring harnes.
Step 3 use electronics cleaner to clean out the oil from the harnes
by cutting a SMALL slit in the 90 degree boot and using the straw
to inject the cleaner into the harnes make shure to get all the oil out
Step 4 use a good grade silacone (sp?) I used black permatex.
Step 5 inject silacone into the slit and fill as mutch of the harnes as you can with it.
Step 6 reasemble the stator wiring and cover.
Step 7 This is the hardest part let the bike sit OVERNIGHT atleast 24 houres
this has semed to have fix my leak.

The only problem with that is that it was found out that the oil is actualy making it's way up inside the individual wire insulators and not the loom. Therefore you would have to seal each wire where the insulation ends and the bare wire begins inside the stator to make the seal job complete.
I was a little sceptical about the oil getting up to the tail section that way but it seems to be true. At least I know to look close at all the possible ways oil can make it's way up to the connectors. Mine is not leaking but I will have to do some serious looking into this and see if I can prevent it from happening.

There should be no oil at your stator anyways, there is a bearing failure at the root of the problem. Your stator should be OIL FREE.

That was one of my questions to the dealer about the oil in the stator.
The dealer told me that it was fine the oil is free to move in and out of the stator.

I don't understand why it would be able to move around in there? Everything in the stator area is electrical and should be protected from liquid, let alone hot liquid like the oil in the engine.

I hate this shit......
My bike is doing the same thing. I've already did the silicone thing and it seemed to work for a couple of rides, but now it's leaking everytime I ride the bike. I hate oil leaks, and this one has got me pissed. I'm gonna tear back into the bike ASAP and try another approach. The problem is that I don't really know what else I can do. I'll figure something out I guess.
Either way I think this should be a recall issue for sure. Somebody could go down as a result of this. If I didn't have a hugger, there is no doubt in my mind that I'd be oiling down the left side of me rear tire. I'm sure some of the oil has made its' way to the tire already. Not a good thing at all.

Nebraska, you are not correct. There will be oil in that area, that is why the stator cover has a gasket. The outside bearing is not a gastet. Ninja, did you find oil in the loom? Big, was your loom dry?

I have no oil at all......yet! but I thought it was traveling up the loom, now I'm being told that the oil is not traveling up the loom but up the individual wires between the insulation (Jacket) and the actual copper wire!
This may be why Ninjaman is leaking again? he sealed the loom and not the individual wires.

Yeah...
It very well could be that it is traveling up each individual wire. That fucking sucks.........., all I can say is that I'll work at getting it fixed.
