You mean a D&D muffler on a muzzy midpipe? If it fits it will "work" but it won't likely bolt to the hanger properly.

The Muzzy w/o packing is pretty raspy, almost like a D&D. Keep in mind that the best power is always with a freshly and tightly packed muffler. The power drops as the packing goes away.

i noticed my muzzy sounder deeper and a lil bit quieter after i repacked it
why does a repacked muffler make more power Doug?
and what combo works the best on a drag bike w a muzzy sidewinder? no baffle, baffle, baffle w packing?

On a constant diameter core muffler, when you remove the packing the holes in the perf tube slow down and destroy the straight-through flow. When you pack it tightly you get noise attenuation along with a smooth flow through the muffler.
The sidewinder is a meg and is designed to be raced without the baffle. With the baffle in place, it is really just the same as a constant diameter muffler, so packed would be best.
A megaphone works by gradually allowing the volume in the pipe to increase as the velocity decreases without "choking" or creating reversionary pressure waves in the pipe. It can effectively decrease the tail pipe "length" and bias the power to the top end. Megaphones usually cause the bottom end to suffer.
