Help fat get down the track quicker!!!

Gotta get down the track a little quicker. I'm slowing down from a year ago I'm running slower than when I had a stock arm and 16/44 gearing now I'm 2.5in over w/17/50 gearing I do weigh 218 lbs also have lost 3mph in the process.

this could be a good air/bad air thing, but in any event at 218 you are a solid candidate for Team Fat Ass membership. We always welcome "stout fellows"

I'm only 5'10" on a good day. I wish I had the height advantage.

Go back to 17/46 or 16/44 gearing. Post your timeslips before and after I bet the difference is in the 60' and 330' mark. 17/50 is way too much gear for your weight!

I have the same problem, plus an habit for Chinese & Mexican food. I'm 6'3" & 280 w/gear. I couldn't launch the sucker worth a shit...mid-11's @ ~130. It was so, so embarassing! Grabby clutch was causing a lousy 2.1 sec 60' every gawd-damn time even w/an average of .525 reaction times. I even rolled through the line & red-lighted once. Upon launch, I couldn't get my feet on the pegs when the sucker was wheelie'ing & drifting toward the centerline all at the same friggin' time...what a wild ride.

Course the concrete dust all over the place from the new dragstrips first usage (Sears Point) may have had something to do w/it. Never could get it wide open until third gear without wheelspin, catching 4th in the traps. Maybe now that the NHRA was there last weekend it may be better now that some rubber is down; & the track is cleaned off.

Stock gearing/everything except Akra pipe, wheels, k&n's... Pretty sure I'm gonna have to re-gear it, different tire (currently D207zr 190/50), & strap/slam it if I want decent times. Mostly rider error....

Enjoy the ride!

Gearing for me hasn't been all that critical. It doesn't seem to affect my ets at all, just my mph. Mines geared to cross the traps right near the limiter in fifth. This is when I get my best mph. These bikes will wheelie in first gear no matter how they're geared so it's mostly about throttle control in low gear. Work on those short times and get the most power you can get to the ground as soon as you can without wheelieing.
