Thickness of stock metal clutch plates?
I wanted to order the stock clutch plates for my 2000 12. I threw my stock ones away when I got my muzzy clutch kit. Now I want to put stock plates back in it. I go to the shop to order them and they have 3 different sizes in metal plates. 1.4, 1.6, and 2.0 mm. Did Kaw put different sizes in different 12's or are the sizes just for preference. I don't understand. I thought stock was 1.6 mm. What size do I need?

Stock is 1.6mm but the Muzzy Kit has the 2.0mm size in it's kit. I would stick with the thicker steel's.

Mike,
The ONLY clutch experiment I haven't tried (that I know of) is to see how many passes a stock set of clutch plates would last. Who knows, maybe the 1.6mm steels wouldn't fry any faster than the 2.0's???

Entrophy, I had a set of 1.6mm clutches last 10,000 miles with no wear! Of course the dealer was lovely enough to install the pack incorrectly.
Given adequate cooling between abuse sessions, they should last quite a while!
The 2.0s can just take more abuse before warping!
