One year since my wreck

Well..today it's been exactly one year since I got up close and personal with the grill of a car. It's funny...I have largely recovered and considering how close I came to checking out, or maybe aquiring a set of wheels to roll around on for life...I didn't think today would be a big deal.
But I was wrong. I can't help dwelling on that day an that split second that changed so much and nearly so much more.
It's a wierd, kind of sad feeling. I don't like it.
Don't get me wrong, I am so glad to still be here and still riding, and I recognize how lucky I truly am, but the anniversary kinda has me bummed. I still miss my ZX-12R for one thing, and I guess maybe thinking about how close I came to dying, it makes me realize, even more than it did at the time, that I am not immortal or invincible. Something I don't like to admit to myself.

Oh well, I'm glad I still count you guys as friends, even if I dont ride a 12 anymore. I will as soon as I can slip it past the wife. :-)

Steve

Steve...Glad to hear things are working out for you. It doesn't matter what you ride...just as long as you're riding. It kind of gets in your blood. don't it! -ZXtra

I wrecked my bike last july.It was down for a few months before I got it roadworthy again.I thought of getting something else, but I knew I would not be happy with less HP.I rode on the same road that I crashed on in may of this year and stopped to look exactly where I crashed (war woman road).I felt better after I pissed down the hill that I crashed on and realized how lucky I was I didn't get hurt more seriously than i did.I do find myself riding more cautiously now , especially on an unfamiliar road.

a year and a month since my last one, though not nearly as bad as yours, still i have changed riding style a bit from that day, and the ones afterwards seeing the car drivers are getting worse and worse.

anyway continue healing, all of it.

It's been over 18 years since I had my bad one...And I still think about it. Since then, there's been one oopsey on the street (low speed low side) and three on the track. But every time I turn down a two lane road that I don't know, I definately 'tread lightly'.
