Gear in front & Chain
I am ordering the extension and I want to go with a new chain and better gear. One more suitable for the track. I was told to go down 1 in the front and that is like 3 teeth in the rear. Is that a correct statement? What is the best gear/teeth for the strip with the 6" extension? All help/suggestions/name callin accepted.

What hp is your bike the lower the hp the more gear like a 17/50 175-200 hp 17/46 or 47. How much do you wieght the heaveier the more gear, the slippery the track the small the gear. It is albout your weight your stye of riding and the track dont forget about the hp too.

I am not a drag expert. I weigh in at 255 myself. I run a 17 / 47 combo and the result is I click into 4th gear near the end of the run. My best time is 10.12. a 145 mile an hour.
Considering that is without wheelie bars, a strap, no lowering etc. I don't have any complaints. That was with my 1270 motor, I have not completed my breakin on the 1361.

I saw your post on looking for extenders(17/47gears) so until you get them 16/44 is the best gearing for the track but if you dont have the yellow box your speedo will add miles to it quickly. Get the strap for the front end and lower the back with spencers links in the second hole, 3rd hole if you dont care if the lower fairing rubs the ground. Next heat up the back by holding the front brake and letting out on the clutch. If the track is sticky start with 38 psi in the rear tire (45 in the front), if it does not spin great if it does lower it 5 pis at a time. Stage in the lights at 3000 rpms to 3500 rpms with right elbow high. Let the clutch out and gas it, if the front end comes up short shift into 2nd or pull the clutch in a bit. Change gears at 11500 rpms burp the gas of a little and you change gears with out the clutch.
