I did it on my Concours and it was no biggie. Granted its is a different design and the 12r is upside down but I cant imagine paying someone to do it unless it is crazy different from rebuilding a regular fork.
I ended up using a broom stick handle to keep the dampening rod from spinning while i broke it loose / torqued it down. Not even sure if 12r forks have dampening rods but you might be able to fab up something similar for our bikes.

Well, let me rephrase that......
When I had my lowering blocks installed, at the dealer that sponsors me, they told me not to tell anyone where I had it done, they did not want to do it again.........

After disassembly it's only removing the dust seals and then there is one lock-ring and You're there!

Did you take the forks off, or did you lift up the bike in the front an take the frontwheel off?

I lifted the front up take the wheel off since its only 3 bolts I took out each fork. honestly once you have the forks out theres an allen head bolt in the bottom of the fork and you need to turn out that large nut up at the other end once you do this the entire fork slides apart. once its apart you can pop out the seals and put new ones in also you will need to fill the tubes back up with 10 w fork oil manual says 484 ml
you could leave the forks on but would be pretty messy
