Close your PayPal Accounts!

I would have put this elsewhere but some people do not look at the Smack House!

Two things have happened lately and this is the final Straw and they are both the same

I went to buy something and when I opted to use paypal I went to change the funding option to Credit Card the "SYSTEM" (PayPal) Completed the transaction without me touching ANY Thing on my computer!

I "Was" Upset with Pierre because paypal took money from my account (AN AMERICAN Bank Account is needed to have an account) when he tried to pay for something using money he already had in his account. I just figured he did something wrong and it happened!

I am closing the PayPal account and suggest you do the same if you want to CONTROL what happens to your money or accounts

I COULD "USUALLY" say the same thing. For Receiving money "DIRECTLY" in and Out of your account and sending Money DIrectly in and out of your account. The Problem lies (Good WORD) when you select a PayPal Option and want to use a back Up funding Source. In Pierre's Case, he HAD the money already in the account but it took directly from the Bank account. I think to preserve the Money PayPal has on hand. In My case I wanted to use a credit Card and I think that they wanted to keep the direct Cash transfer to make more money by avoiding the Fee the Credit Card charges.

Since they charge the Business Customer 3.5% for "ALL TRANSACTIONS" they make 3.5% if they take the money from my Bank. BUT If I use a credit card and my company charges them 2%, they only make 1.5% profit. It used to be in the past, they would do everything to keep you from using a card. Offer a chance in a drawing and tell you all sorts of things. Now they say you have the same protection and save money by the direct transfer. The problem for me is they do not let "YOU CHOOSE" the Funding SOurce or allow you to cancel the transaction either! They just take the money and NOTHING you can do about it! I am closing my account after 6 years!

I use Paypal because:

I don't have to remember, broadcast or share my credit card # across the Internet with companies I do business with. On the other hand, I refuse to give Paypal or anyone else access to my checking/banking accounts. I received a pshing email that appeared to be from Paypal notifying me there was a security breach on my account and prompting me to login to resolve the issue. I forwarded the email to Paypal. Never hurts to be over cautious.

So you always have money in their account? How did you open one without using a Bank account?

Either way, This is the second time I have had a problem directly and then the one Pierre had I am done!

Nope, don't have any money held by Paypal. All my Paypal charges go on my VISA.

Mega, Smart Man!

Take a Look at your PayPal account and let me Know if ANYONE sees the Option to "Close" the account? I cannot find one and I am trying to do this right now and the first time the Request was denied because there was still a pending transaction! Now that there are NO Pending Transactions Let me see what they say now!

I believe in "Your word is not worth the Paper it is not written on"! I am VERY Distrustfull of doing anything over the phone where the confusion can cost me. I want it in Writing that I asked for the account to be closed and I want it in writing that the account IS Closed! Like I said, no where is there a place I see marked "Close Account"

That has alerted me to the fact that when I do not see that I NOW know to find out about how it is done BEFORE the fact!

They finally told me how to close the account! Click the Edit Profile beside your name and go to the CLose account option!

I tried and it refused stating "Pending Transaction". I am OK provided this Pending does not take more than a few days!

Good deal Vincent. Hope closing your Paypal account works out for you. BTW, as much as I hated doing it, I purchased ID theft insurance. $140/year for my household. It makes me mad that this is the kind of world we live in. We have to pay for firewalls, Anti-virus, Anti Spyware, and Anti ADWare programs. Can't just have a normal mailbox anymore, hast to be a locking variety. Then there's the whole laundry list of things you have to insure, contracts that only exist to be broken,... The list goes on and on. I read that among the Indians, all that was ever needed to seal a contract was a handshake, and we call ourselves modern, enlightened and progressive.

Look at the American heritage, murders and thieves from the beginning.
How did the only true Americans, the Indians, end up on reservations?
Why did the British think they had a right to taxes?

Be careful Mr Hill, I've heard Paypal will lock your checking account for suspect activity.

No Arguements here! The CHecking account they have access to is the one where I used to work and my wife still does in the Credit Union! I do not think they will have ANY Success if they try! FOr a Mail box I have a Slot in the door and when I go away for a while I put a large card board down so I can open the door when I return!

I also put a curved metal cover over it so that someone cannot lift the cover and just look inside!

I had a problem once and I think it came from the Mail Man mis delivering my Social Security information. What I did was change my Mother's Maiden Name to my Aunts and a few other things like that so that they may have the correct information but it will not work for them! The Mother's Maiden Name is a serious way to get you and I changed mine EVERYWHERE!
