Depending on how tight the motor is, how good the map is and whether the dyno is happy or not.........175 to 180hp is my guess.

That will be a real happy dyno. Try low to mid 170's...

Okay then.....a sad dyno will show 165 to 170hp. It was just my guess!
BTW, I've seen a bunch of bolt -on 12's making high 170's over the past seven years on several different dynos.

2002 with full muzzy exhaust, PC3r awesome map, and BMC street filters, made 173.4 hp at 9820 rpms on a DJ250 dyno. I think a 2000 will do better.

Sounds good! What would you think your bike would do stock? That map, is it custom or is it from Powcomm.com? Why do you think 2000 will do better?

172 corrected. The pipe will give you close to 25 h.p. gain above 11,000 rpm with proper mapping.

Definately that much or more. The stock pipe strangles the engine up top and power falls off bad. With an aftermarket exhaust the power peak is higher and it holds power to the rev limiter.... instead of falling on its face...

my 02 made 154 stock, and with full Muzzy, PC, KN filter with Muzzy mechanical ignition set at +4 degrees and custom map made at Stock, Mild to Wild in Jax, made 180.1 hp

My 01 makes 183.3 with a full TiForce, PC, stacks, and KN filters, and some Roger tweaking.....dont know what it made stock....and that was mapped in Nashville, TN....not at sea level.

My guess is that high 170's is very do able.....with the right combination of parts and tuneing....what do you think Dan? hehehehe

It all varies....

Dyno's vary... sometimes up to 10rwhp even with the same dyno model (I've experienced this personally in the past).

Correction factors is a big one too, STD will "show" higher numbers than SAE, but SAE is a more ACCURATE correction method.

Tuning will vary. Some tuners will lean it out to make big numbers on the dyno, but then on the street it will run like crap, Some will tune it so it runs good in the real world, but then you get lower numbers on the dyno. Don't be fooled, the HP number isn't what's important, the optimum A/F for the real world is what you want to be concerned with.

There are plenty more variables that will effect the power output of the bike on the dyno... these are just some of the most common.

As for my personal prediction for your bike...

I'd say with a GOOD custom map.... 173-176rwhp SAE on a DJ250. The K&N's are too restrictive and the Muzzy pipe is mediocre. With the RIGHT filters and pipe, 178-181rwhp SAE is possible.

Highest I've seen with a 10000000% unopened, bone stock, valve cover never off ZX-12R with JUST a pipe, filters, pc3usb is 183.5rwhp SAE on HAPPY DJ250.

thanks Dan....isnt any sense in having them if your not gonna ride them and take care of them......

And I have no doubt that Roger played a HUGE part in getting that much power from both of my 12's he is a stickler for details.....

tshultz, thanks, its not quite done, all of the armor and handleing mods are done, now I need to work on power and brakes....looking at putting ZX14 calipers on it, with Brake Tech Axis rotors, and prolly a full Micron exhaust as I cant get a header for my AP slip on, and I can get a micron at cost....my Micron on my 600 made decent power and sounded good.....put the pipe on it and a PC and have it mapped for this elevation, sould help it out...

I have a 2002 with a hindle full system and a power commander and it was dyno'd by a local legend named Mike Valesco at brothers yamaha in bremerton washington. He worked for quite a while to get the numbers that I got...but heres the dyno chart given to me.... the torque and the hp are smooth and it runs better than any bike I have ever owned.... even if the numbers differ from std to sae... I know that I love my bike and the way it runs.... and it hits dam hard at 7500 rpm.... oh yea......

thats some serious TQ numbers for a stock motor, I have never seen a stock motor put out over 100 ft lbs of TQ....I am not sure how to convert those numbers to SAE...

Mike Velasco is a local legend. He built my 212 rwhp 1361, 3 years ago, and she's still going strong.

I have had people say that its not right and those who say its all in the tuner who does the work and the amount of time he puts into it..... I know that the bike flat out gets with the program and short of a big bore kit its as good as I need for now.... oh yea.....
