It won't start in gear. Why?

Okay there i was at a stop light I turn off the bike, the light turned green I go to start her up it's in First gear the clutch is in the switch is on and yes I turned the key but nothing. So I put it in neutral clutch in still nothing. I let the clutch out and it started right up. What's up with that?

ya, the clutch switches are double throw, unlike suzukis which are usually single. this means instead of just on/off, it is on/on just switching through two different circuits. either way the bike wont start without one of these circuits being active. i found this out when trying to hijack my clutch switch to wire to a 2 step. wont run without one of the paths activated.
