last time i was at my buddy shop where the bike was stored during the rebuild,, but i dont have a compressor so? also i here that it shouldnt be in gear etc,, and to chock the wheel,, anyone? thanx

get a breaker bar, and maybe a piece of pipe. stick a 2x4 thru the rear wheel. get a buddy to sit on bike and stand on the rear brakes(helps if you have a rear stand) use precision brute force with the breaker bar on the nut after you bend the tabs back

i wouldnt try it in gear. i allways put it in neutral just to be safe. and if you do find an impact, DONT put the nut back on with it.... i think i might have wrote something very similar to this not too long ago on Dales site.. hmmm

You never want to use the rear stand....you can't get enough weight on it to keep the rear tire from moving.
move the rear tire forward in the swingarm to get some slack
bend the metal tabs back from the nut
leave the bike on the ground
sit on the seat
hold the rear brake
remove the nut with a long torque wrench
easy as pie. The rear stand thing will get a lot of people because they will forget that without the weight of the bike and rider loading the tire you can't keep it from spinning.

First time I took the front sprocket off, I tried a 1'' breaker bar w/a 4ft pipe, no go. Next, I put an impact wrench on it, and she spun right off,

i didnt have to use an impact on either of those... get a longer bar or start going to the gym lol:P
seriously, a 2x4 thru the rear wheel wont let the wheel turn(think back to when you used to throw sticks thru the spokes on your buddys pedal bikes to lock a wheel up on them)
if you are scared about paint, wrap it in a towel.

harbor freight has a electric impact, work great for sprockets, clutch baskets and car tires.
