Gainesville Raceway 11-02-01

Well I went to the Drag strip for the second time this week. The first time was on wed. I ran a 10.75@137.88.Tonight my best was 10.76@ 137.That's really slow for you guys that don't weigh much try running it 2 up.My bike is not strapped and only lowered slightly in the rear only.My lights were much better.
I am going to strap my bike and lower it tomorrow and I'm going Back to the drag strip tomorrow night. That will make 3 times this week.I like it!! I hope my times improve. ProStar finals are next weekend. I plan on going all three days.I'm just going to watch not compete.I like Top Fuel the best.

Good to see you at the track Harry- you will love that strap. I'm gonna drop down one main jet size (remember those guys?) before tomorrow- my mph was 2-3 weak. I fattened it too much at the dyno yesterday. See you tonite no rain...no rain...no rain...

Drag Racing

That's great Harry!

How much do you weight? (if you don't mind me asking)
I am planning on trying drag racing out, hopefully next summer. How much do you guys in the 9's weigh?
Im sure getting a good launch is the most important thing, but I imagine your weight also contributes a bit.

Thanks,

Tim

Kaw Rider - I weigh over 300 with my leathers etc.I have lots of room for improvement, especially in my launch and 60 ft times.I'm trying my best to get better. Some of the guys Entropy,DTB SCRD,MadMike are big guys too. I weigh more than them, but they are in the 9's so that tells me I need to figure out what they are doing different from me.

Weight

Cool...

Im about 195-200 in the leathers... so I guess my biggest hurdle is technique.

keep it up Harry!!

congrats!

Congrats Harry! Like I said at the Maxton event when we met, we'll get you in the low 10s or high 9s with some one-on-one instruction.

Wish I could make the event next week but I can't. Still unemployed and all and it's 14 hours drive for me so I'll have to wait until next year.

Take care and good luck to all next week!

Thanks guys. I went back tonight this time with my bike strapped.1st run was a 10.88 then a 10.65 and my 3 rd was my best time and mph ever 10.62@138 so it looks like the strap helped me about a tenth. The eliminations started and I had a good light on the first run but launched too hard and stood it straight up.When I tried to let off I couldn't let off enough and almost flipped it.chopped the thottle and did a suspension limit test, got back on the gas and won that round due to having a good light.I made it to the semifinal round where I lost while sleeping at the tree.I had a great time and one of our friends won his 1 st first place trophy this season this was the final sat night of the year but they're still going to do test and tune every wed so I'll be back on wed. There was a little rain frog that was right above my tach. I took that little fucker for a ride tonight!

LMFAO, took him for a ride , eh??? he had balls!

Harry,
I believe you can get into the 9's with a little technique. I see a BIG dude on a 12 at the track who gets hi 9's, so it is certainly possible, even with high 130's.

You have some real talent around you to give advice, so don't listen to me, but maybe my experience is good for comparison.

I launch at 4500, and found that launching at higher rpm gave me nothing but problems, i.e. wheelspin or wheelies. I am not a wheelie-meister like you so I avoid big standups like the plague. I snap the clutch out hard but keep a grip on it and as soon as the bike bolts off the line, I squeeze it just a bit. That squeeze is just enough to start the clutch slipping. Then I feed throttle in as fast as I can while using the clutch to keep from going skyward.

The clutch wear is horrible, but this technique allows my fat ass to really scoot, although I haven't achieved any consistency. When it works, I get into lo 9.7's or even the occaisonal 9.6.

Good luck, man. Go show 'em that dragging a 12 is not just for leprechauns (sp?).

Harry,
Congrats on the times. I know your bike makes great power and you are proving it! Practice, practice, practice and have plenty of fiber and steel plates on stand-by :-). I'm glad you're racing and having a blast, keep it up.

Alright Harry!!!!

Even if you throw out the weight and the strap factor.....That some pretty good times for a first timer!!!!

You'll hit the 9's!!!! No doubt about that!!!
