ZX10 Question..
been watching some video of them run and even though they are very good looking bikes,, i will be a 12 guy since i am a little big for a ten,, but is it me or do these bikes rev faster than a 12,, i had a guy fly by me from a dead stop on a ZX10 and it seemed like the accelaration was simply put quicker,, is this true and why ,, is it,, the stroke,,the compression,, gearing,, weight,,all of the above? does a 12 rev that qwick and im just used to it or what?can the 08 ten take a 2000 12 with equal riders?

Stock? YES! Hell, an 04-07' can also. My 06' made 167 h.p. in stock trim and is 100 lbs. lighter than my 00' 12 stock. 12 made 155 h.p. stock.

A few reasons.
100 lbs less weight.
Shorter INTERNAL gear ratios which yield better acceleration.
10R is geared for about 186 from the factory where the 12 is geared for about 196 bone stock derestricted.
10R has almost the same RWHP as the 12.
When running against a buddy on his 04 10R....I would always be able to reel him in. Reason? He weighed about 100 lbs more than me! That is a BIG BIG difference! And that was with 18/44 gearing....I never even needed to use 6th gear. I can post the vid if interested.

Hell yea i would like to see it,, ! whats the ratio on 18/44 im thinking i want to go 17/45,, i should be OK with the chain length at 116 stock links right?

I have run 17/45 gearing just fine with the stock chain.

18/44 gearing and no nitrous used unless mentioned right before spraying.

my 02 ZX12R and my 04 ZX10R made the same hp when both were stock...obviously the 12 makes more torque, and the 10 is over 100 lbs lighter. I would say my 10 revs faster than my 12

Ship, my 06' made 167 RWHP, stock. It would kill a stock 12.

my 02 12, made 154 hp stock as did my 10. With all the mods done to the 12, it was 180hp. The 10 is 161 hp with a slip on and K&N filters. I still think the 10 is quicker...I just bought an 01 12 that is 183hp at that wheel right now, I will get the wheel spacers in the 10 today and ride them back to back and see what happens. I already know the 12 is quicker to about 100 mph, after that its a toss up.....will tell ya later.
