Muzzys may be the only pipe that pulse and sound cammy down low and have the notorious flat spot till the revs rise...if they were the same price I'd probably go akra....but since Muzzys are cheaper thats what I went with.
Not sure on peak number differences....or.....at least from 8k on up.

i guess im one of the few who prefer muzzy...
used to have a muzzy ti,change to akra race....
still prefer my old loud muzzy....better mid n top
akra is softer good at low and drivability...

Performance wise I would say they are identical. My bike 2003 ZX12 w/ a Muzzy,16/44 gearing stock wheelbase went 9.50@ 147+,CrotchRockets 2002 same mods, same rider identical set up went a 9.49 @147+ The Akra is a lil prettier but it comes down to personal preference.

You know, I wish somebody would do a same day same bike dyno run on akra, muzzy, hindle, etc pipes. For what's it's worth, my dyno guy says nothing makes more hp on a 12 then an akra, and he has 100's of documented dyno runs to back him up, and people travel 100s of miles for his dyno tuning. Give George a call, if you want more info:

Everyone says you dont nedd a PC3 to run an AKRA,, if i were to aquire a PC3 would i notice a diference,, or should i pass on that and use a timing advancer plate? or not even go there,, and just stay with gearing BMCs and the AKRA and call it a done deal..

Hmmm.. I'm just wondering about this flatspot everyone talks about. I've fitted a full Muzzy pro pipe on my stock 00 ZX12 (no pc3)a few weeks back.
Power delivery is clean. Still a little flat under 3, about the same as stock to be honest.
i just about cancelled my order for the Muzzy after reading all the negative reviews, I'm so glad i didn't
My last bike was a TLR, maybe thats why i find this bike smooth and easy to ride..

When i go from a light hard,, there is definatley a FLAT spot with my full Carbon Muzzy when opened up it would bog for a cunt hair then it was balls to the wall,, when it starts to warm up i will get out and test the Akra,. but it will have been geared with a tiny bit more top end and BMCs..

Propipe is for larger motors or motors with work done to them. A different exhaust to the standard full system that most have and complain about. Launching at the strip, roll-ons, maxton, etc...don't bother me. Riding in the twisties with its weird throttle response DOES.

DONE ALOT OF DYNO TESTING ON THESE PIPES... HANDS DOWN AKRO AND HINDLE OVER MUZZY. USUALLY 3-4 MORE PEAK HP BUT VERY SMOOTH DELIVERY VS/ MUZZY. NO COMPARISON IN FINISH!

How about some of our long time members digging out and posting some dyno graphs.
That would help some of these guys make a better decision.
Thanks.

I'll get some dyno charts from Monkey, our race mechanic. He runs LAE Racing here in OZ who are a well respected performance shop.

hmmmmmm...
Muzzy vs Akro on a stock motor? too close to call on hp.
I really don't think posting dyno results from different dynos, different days, different tuners will realistically help anyone make an informed decision.
You'll get everything from VH's unbelievable 185-ish on down to low 160's.
Choose on sound
or
Choose on Akro's good manners without a PC3.

183.1 SAE NET and 101 in Torque Bergie was there and on several other Dyno's 182 and 181 SAE!!
Of course this was "NOT" With either a Muzzy or Akra and it was using Bear Short Stacks and the Crank Case Vacuum Mod! Pump Gasoline.

True entropy.
However, you can see the pipe "signature" and it will allow you too choose your desired power curve and dip.

My 12 w/full akra and bmc race filters seemed a bit smoother and made a couple more peak hp after I installed a pciiir and had it tuned. But, w/o the pc, my 12 ran great w/no flat spots. That's actually the main reason I chose the akra. I knew too many guys w/performance issues with their after market pipes, of course, this was mostly before Power Commanders started becoming so popular. I mean we are going back more than 7 years here

so i am thinking when installing a pipe and not needing to add fuel in the old days ment you did not get much gain in hp. i know they are fat on top end to be safe but the lower end with no fuel needed? may as well put on a bolt on.

In perfect conditions a 12 with a Hindle pipe, PC, dyno tuned only got 2mph in the 1/4 mile more than a 12 with an Akrapovic without a PC !!!...I think that amounts to 5 horse power!!!
Lets see, a PC = $300 + and a Dyno Tune session also $300+ = A grand total of $600+
Maybe be worth it to some of you guys, but not me!!!...But then again the PCs were crap back then, they are much better now!!!

I would think 2 mph would be close to 8 HP. Seems it takes 35-40 ponies to pick up 10 mph trap speed..
