I just wanted to thank all of you for this thread. I was at Route 66 yesterday and spoke with a couple guys I hadn't seen since last year. They both upgraded from "B" ZX-12Rs to ZX-14s. When I told them I recently purchased a 2000 ZX-12R they lit into me like a windmill in a tornado. They said I may as well turn around, sell the 12 and grab a 14. They called the ZX-12R everything from a rolling pile of garbage to a smelly piece of B.S.

I was quite upset and really thought about an upgrade but reading this has made me more determined than ever to build this ZX-12R into something even greater than the bike was originally. Thanks again.

Incidentally, one of the guys told me he used to run 8.90s all day long on his 1270 ZX-12R. Last night he could only pull 9.1s on his piped, lowered, sprayed ZX-14 (with flies removed and tuned out).

Truth is, a bored and stroked 12 done right is closer to being a 1400 then either the 14 or the busa, and if built right, is more powerful and faster. And let's not forget, a lot better looking too

Neither ! But I like my twisties, so if you want a good heavy drag bike than by all means get one. You won't catch me in the corners. I race out at Jenning's and smoke a lot of the smaller lighter bikes on my 12 and my 9. So for all around use for doing drag, twisties, wheelies or just everyday riding the 12 has to be about perfect. I live in Georgia where every other bike is a Busa and all chromed out. So its nice to have something unique.

No way.. My 195 RWHP 02 ZX12 R with dual exhaust is sweet. I also have the RR ecu mod. Next I'm going to try to bolt the concours variable valve timing system on my 12r...
