To Mr. Santafe and Board

I think because the zx12r and zx14 are 1mm difference in the piston diameter we can say the motors have things in common. When mixing and matching motors changes are required to make it work. For example I had an old zx10 (1989) upper case and the zx11 pistons didn't fit inside. So I spent hours sanding the cylinder barrels to make the zx11 pistons fit. I also had to use zx10 head bolts. The only reason I said it might work because the above example worked and people thought it wouldn't work..

Can you fit a zx10r crank in a zx12r.. The diffference being 55mm vs. 55.4 millimeters. I don't know, and no one will know until someone tries it. I certainly don't want to prevent anyone from trying anything new.. Including Y2K's free mods, Ridge Racers ECU and 1375 engine builds.. This board is about keeping maintenance cheaper and passing information from person to person without having to go to the shop..

Besides other obstacles I don' think it will clear the starter.. Hope this helps

why didnt you just bore the upper case so you wouldnt have to make the bottom of the cylinder walls any thinner? just curious. i did something similar to a KZ, you dont actually have to take it to a machine shop to be bored, i did it with a dremmel. my old KZ650 project bike is using a KZ750 cylinder block (thicker sleeves) that was bored out to the wiseco 810 kit(kz650 sleeves arent thick enough to go that big)......wish i could get that bike back together/finished, the 12 is taking all my time and money LOL

Supra,
You should quit while your ahead, or I should say quit before you get to much further down the ladder.

You continue to backpedal, in efforts to save face and it's not working, not even a little bit.

There are a few really sharp guys on this forum. Guys that have done this stuff and know what works and what doesn't.

You are not, nor will probably ever be one of "those" guys.

Keep your mouth shut and maybe you can learn a bit.

Thanks, Supra5677 I was hoping their was a low dollar direct bolt in mod that would net a decent hp gain. I'm at the end of the rope for hp mods on my carpenter built motor and keep some reliability. If i want to go faster i'll have to go turbo. I'm not sure i want to open another can of worms and i doubt i would add a turbo to my zx12 as i would probably go over to the darkside and start fresh.

bigbore,
Supra's been around awhile, and he's always willing to share and help out. IMHO, he didn't deserve your harsh advise

Megabyte,
IMHO, you should keep your mouth shut too. This wasn't directed at you, it was directed at Supra.

Supra,
"I think because the zx12r and zx14 are 1mm difference in the piston diameter we can say the motors have things in common"

Did you really say that?
