Not sure, but I'll beat everyone else to the punch: Have you thougth about boring/stroking your 12 instead? Doug Meyer has done 1340cc, 1361 is a popular one too if you wanted similar displacement. Muzzys also have a 1375:

http://www.muzzys.com/ZX1375/index.html

Just curious. Then again you do get the benefit of knowing your motor is essentially "unstressed" and at that size, so to speak, if you shoehorned a 14 in there.

might be easier just putting 12 fairings on a 14. it would be the worlds prettiest 14 when you're done

My guess is that you will need the whole zx14 wiring harness and ecu. the 14 was the evolution of the 12(not a revolution:P), the frames are very similar, but i bet you will need to do some cutting and welding to get it to fit. not a huge deal if you can fabricate, but it will take lots of trial and error. make sure everything is straight and lined up, and you should be able to do it without a lot of problems. fitting the plastics back on might take some custom mounts too. sounds like a fun project!
just wondering, why do you want to build up a 14 vs the 12? turbo kit??

2004-2005 zx12s have 32 bit ECUs like the 14, but the older 12s are 16 bit so I think the FI will be pretty off. Also, aren't the air boxes/ram air different?

Just build a 1375 engine for your 12r. It will make more power.

..there's a cool thought....might have to stretch or shrink a few dimensions/body panels/mounting points here and there, but that would be waaaaay cool....who'll be the first????

one of the guys with brock at atco said you get more power per cc with a 12 motor than a 14 mod for mod.just stroke a 12 and you will not have to go as big with the 14. and save denaro with out the fab labor. probably cheaper per hp gain with the 12 engine than paying money to put in a 14 than modding the engine.
on a side note we put a zx9 (old skool) in a zx7 on the mid 90s and it was great till we got the head ported and made it use more air. the air box on the bike was not a high enough volume for the modded engine and was imposable to get jetted well. it was drivable but not correct.
just something to think about air box wise 12 vs 14.

more power per cc is something i have heard too. Karls 1427 has put out i think over 230 hp. the 1530 kit is supposed to be good for 240(and i may be comparing sae hp to std). and we all know Karl is far from done "experimenting"

hes got nothing to worry about if he goes with a turbo though. some ppl actually build a smaller air box inside the frame/airbox for a turbo setup. the turbo kit would be a lot less work IMO. just buy the kit for the 14 and adapt it to the 12s frame. by the time the motor is mounted, it wouldnt be that much extra work.

I would love to see a 12 with a 14 motor in it...

Maybe if you put the 14 motor in with the wiring harness, guages and ecu from the 14 it should work with minor changes and welding to the frame for the airbox and throttle bodies to fit???

Then I would love to make a few passes down the DragStrip with it...
