Hunchback of NOS-tradam
Thought I'd show you our new chasis set up. Pics a bit blury.
We made some big chages. Fuel tank is gone. Now under the swingarm with remote external pump.
Lower shocker and it is now 2" clearence at level.
8.283 @ 180.83mph first time out. We'll jam some more clutch in and gas to try for a seven next time out.

Entropy,
Yes, the time above is the first time out like that. The air box cover is just a fiber glass replica of the original and cut of at the back.
Alex (red shirt) who rides the bike says its the most comfortable he's been on the bike. You sit so low that you don't need to tuck under. You just look straight ahead and you're behind the screen. It's a bit uncomfortable to get your feet to the rear sets yet, but we'll sort that soon.
We ran mid 1.4 60ft. 140 to 143mph at half track. Too slow. But pulling upto 40mph over the back half is good.
Here's a couple of other pics. Still a bit blury. It was 2am before race day. We were runner up.

Time slips.
1.5 had too much slip over the 60 then wheelied.
the 168 was slip at top of track.
So some sorting yet.

The tail section is all carbon and I saved 3 pounds because I didn't have to run the rear seat, not to mention there is more space in the back because of no seat! The seat is a black, drag stepped seat made of fiberglass. Front seat saved 4 pounds..
Tail section is from Yoyodyne.
Step seat is from Catalyst Composites.
I'm looking to switch to the carbon fiber seat that catalyst also makes (about 2x the price as the black one)

Yep, 440 ready to race. It should be a bit lighter now. The half tank, like ship, weighed 21lbs with 3 litres of fuel. The new tank with pump and regulator is just 10lbs.
Rider seat hieght changed 100mm down and 75mm forward.
On the salt we have Ron Statie 204mph ZX12 all motor.
Cheers for the interest.

Tank is 3 litres. Pump is a Walbro and the regulator is a sard. A mate manufactuered the tank. All up installed was $800US.

why dont you cut that tank down some, theres got to be a lot of room since the real tank isnt there.

Wolf, you're funny! It would be nice to get down to Danny Pedrosa's weight one day!
VH...you know how we both are w/out 12s...things just take TIME!!!!! I would PREFER rocking a cut-down cover on it but ... you know me....form FOLLOWS function...then there is the added weight thing too (the cover)!
Mr. Santafe: YES! I have a 2.5 lb nitrous bottle along with my 9 oz air shifter bottle next to it, both of their mouths are facing forward. Nitrous bottle heater wraps the 2.5 nos bottle. Nitrous solenoid is mounted on the right subrame rail near where the rear seat and front seat meet. The power commander fits pretty nicely towards the right rear by the back of the CO2 air shifter bottle, although I have toyed with mounting it on the outside of the subrame rail left rear...it would fit in there very snugly between 2 rails but accessing the serial port would require dismounting it every time. I usually just lay the ECU on top of both bottles when I run the solo tail. Still plenty of room for a phillips screwdriver, a 9/16 wrench & 1/2 inch wrench for the nos since I'm too poor for a purge kit. And a tee shift too! But I had to cut a lot of the black plastic that is the storage area. From underneath and outiside it seems about the same, I just gutted it up to have the most cubic inches .. with a razor blade, some scissors, pliers, duct tape and cursing.
If I run the stock tail section w/the seat, its better if I remove the co2 bottle and put the ecu in kinda diagonal so there is clearance w/the seat.
I haven't tried my cut down tank yet ... but it will be nice to see how much it helps me at the strip getting forward and lower (I'm 5'6 but mainly leg so w/a short torso getting low and forward isn't as easy). Also, I'd like to see if it ultimately HELPS me or HURTS me aerodynamically to top speed given my new tuck. I think I may be TOO Low but i can always add a little chinbar height!
