Muzzy exhaust pix...

Just finished installing the Muzzy exhaust... took all day.. mostly because the UPS guy who was supposed to arrive at 8am came at 5:15pm ... this made for lots of waiting / prep time... install was smooth.... removing the innner fairing "snap" connectors (either side of inside fairing) is a pain in the ass..

Removal of old pipe was easy... disconnected lower rad hose... drained small amount of coolant into containers... cabletied rad out of the way and pinched off hose so no more coolant would come out... swivle head fer the driver is a handy thing even with the rad out of the way... per CrotchRocket's advice I added 2 washers to the rad bracket to space it farther from the header.... man... that thing is CLOSE! (even with the 2 washers)... I was surprised to see that the fairing on the inside bottom by the midpipe was infact melted from the stock exhaust!... I had extra ceramic heat tape so I spent lots of time taping up the inside of the fairing... could still use some more IMHO... I think it may melt but I'll know soon enough...

Fit and finish of the header and canister are excellent. the header fit perfectly... definetly a notch above the Yosh I installed on my FZR1000 (that took some serious bending to make it fit) ... Canister is pretty hilarious.... damn hollow .. not much there but a straight hole through to the engine .. shit I feel like a Harley rider with straight pipes! ...Got it all back together only once it started getting dark... loaded Doug's map in and took it fer a spin over the bridge and back... power is much more accesible.... "so THIS is what a mapped bike should feel like", I thought to myself.. Pipe is pretty loud ... I STILL managed the odd backfire... but it seemed to sound more like a smallish "pop" or a Formula One "off throttle burble" instead of the giant "shotgun" blasts I have grown accustomed to... Anyways... it started to rain and I had to go in, eat and now I'm here ... all in all a simple procedure that should have taken 45 mins took a whole day... oh well .. results are great...

One thing is true though.... the bike in it's stock form SUCKS. Everyone should go buy a Muzzy's pipe and a Powercommmander... the bike will put a smile on yer face after yer finished... These mods are a MUST. No kidding here.

PS... power is now "silky smooth"..... finally the bike rides like it should... has that carb'd feel that I missed so much.... very nice map... looking at the map I can see that a certain Doug Meyer must have spent an awful lot of time on a certain website and talked to a certain CliffRadall cuz those #'s sure ring a bell!

here are some pix..

She looks good fish!

Don't worry about the fairing. Let it melt so you can locate the spots to trim.

I will be in Laguna on Wednesday. I'll look for you and the rest of the crew!

Good Info Fish

Glad to hear you are satisfied with map. I can't wait until I get my Muzzy system because the power and throttle management is quite difficult in its raw form. This bike has so much power that I have to really operate the throttle gingerly or I'll end up a load of shit in my pants.

Damn Fish, glad you FINALLY got a pipe on that thing...lol.
Im just about to do a pipe install today for someone. He's very excited. Now if the damn UPS guy would show up with my parts...hehe.
The next mod you should do is wheels! Talk about performance increase! Or a billet clutch basket! Really smooths out the bike!
