1361 crankshaft showed up today

The stroker crankshaft came back today. Looks great. Mike Velasco was busy de-burring and prepping parts for assembly as I left the shop. My 1361 should be ready to map and start break in on the dyno Saturday! And ready to truck to Laguna on Monday!

The Green machine will be sporting the new 1361 motor with new Brembo Calipers and Brembo Master cylinder. I had planned on powder coating the swing arm black, but ran out of time!

The 1361 is going together. Mike Velasco came in today on the 4th to work on my engine to make sure I would be ready for Laguna. Great guy.

Ran into a problem. The Stroker crank and Corilla rods present a problem! Some areas of interferance. Luckly, Mr. Velasco is not the average mechanic, nor is his shop average. With out to much detail, Mike and his machinist went to work and began making shims, trimming the starter gear, relocating items etc. and suddenly no interference, butter sweet rotation and a much better feeling on my part!!

My 520 chain and sprocket set up also had a minor problem. The rear sprocket arrived for the stock 12 wheel. Doesn't fit my Marchesini wheel, so Mike had his machinist chuck up my 530 rear sprocket and he made it into a 520.

The only real disapointing thing was I had ordered a new right side cover to replace the scratched one damaged on the fery boat fall a month or so ago. We went to install it and I had failed to order the 2 bearings that the clutch rod uses in the cover! Fuck!! Oh well I will put the new cover on when I get back from Laguna!

We will probably fire the baby up tomorrow afternoon if not Saturday morning!

I'll ask Velasco about the cam timing. As for the 520 it is because of weight. Their is a huge difference in the weight of the 520 chain and sprockets versus the 530 stocker. It is also rotating weight. I am a road racer, and I have been on a mission cutting weight etc. from my 12. Honda/Rossi runs a 520 on GP V5 even. Granted I know and accept changing out chains more frequently, but that is all of part of Maint. with me.

Thanks for posting the picks for me Swft!

Engine will go back in the frame Saturday Morning!

Velasco spent a lot of time to day checking the deck, cc'd the head etc. It was fun watching one of the worlds best engine builders doing all of the little things.

She lives! Started her up for the first heat cycle at or about 6:45 this evening. Sounds a little deeper! Burped the radiator and ran it through another heat cycle before coming home for the night.

It was a long day as we worked both on the 12 along with getting our AMA riders GSXR 1000 ready for Laguna.

Swft and I will put the body work back on in the morning and then I will take her for a ride. Oh yeah, for all of those wondering how weak Swft is, he walked over to the bench picked up the complete 12 motor and carried it over to the hoist (about 40 feet) and set the engine on the lift! He talks in a slightly higher tone but, actually he did this without much effort.

One issue did arrise with the install, the bear stacks don't quite work with the stroker motor as the shim / spacer raises the head just enough as to not let the stack completely seat and thereby seal themselves in the airbox.
We will have to do a little machine work upon return from Laguna to make them work.

ZH just took the bike to his house, so he can load it into the back of his truck. You could hear that monster bellow as he got onto the highway...What was that, the sound of sirens?
