What is the quietest exhaust?

Ok...another exhaust question...what is by far the most absolute quietest exhaust out there in the aftermarket? Is there anything that can give you the great performance of a full Muzzy system, but also be as quiet as the stock exhaust?

If I remember correctly, the stock exhaust is rated at 86db. Many aftermarket pipe makers have "quiet" baffles available for many of their different pipes, but you must ask for it while ordering (Muzzys, Tsukigi are the two I've actually tried on my ZRX11.)

The quietest I know of that I have actually used, is the Tsukigi "Dexter" series with their "Quiet Baffle 93db." Tsukigi also makes a 103db "competition" baffle if you prefer (my ZRX11 w/Stage III everything won't "pull hard" on the quiet pipe; it will with the competition pipe-cams.)

Muzzys quiet baffle was slightly "louder" than the Tsukigi, but HP was about the same. I don't know what the db rating on the Muzzys is....Doug? I liked the "tone" of both Muzzys baffles, but the "race baffle" was just a bit too "raspy" for me around town or droning on the freeway. Most of the racer types or guys who want to be heard seem to like the Muzzys.

Currently on the ZX12R I'm running the Akrapovic Evo Ti, which is the quietest pipe I've heard on a ZX12R. I can't hear it at freeway/elevated speeds unless the revs are above 7500 or so. It's only got a few thousand miles on it, & is slowly/slightly increasing in volume as the packing is slowly blowing out. I expect to have to repack it in a year or so as I don't ride it a ton like some of you.

I've found that removing the stick coils makes for a very quiet exhaust system.

Re: quiet

I haven't heard a Hindle system on a 12 yet, but on other bikes they have had a nice sound; not too loud. I don't have sound meter specs.

I think you can specify your muffler size with them. (eg.- 20 inch length) -ZXtra

I'm not sure how you would check it out but the Brits are anal about not allowing race exhausts on the street. So I believe about three or so months ago one of the British magazines (Bike, Superbike or Performance Bike) did a very thorough story / report on exhaust sytems, hp and torque gain on cans, full exhausts and street and race systems. I don't have a copy of the magazine anymore but maybe someone else here might!
