not crazy about purple ice. Prefer water wetter.

Maybe you have air in the system?

they didn't have any water wetter at the track, just the purple ice.....i've been told to pull off the track if the temp goes over 215 degrees is that true, or can i run it hotter?

You got the cooling fans hooked up to your car???If they are cycleing like they are supposed to do,you shouldn't have a problem..I think they come on at 215 or 225 and kick off at 210 or somewhere around there....What gear are you running around the track in...And what rpm...Wire it so that the fan stays on all the time...JMO....

fans on all the time, i have it wired to a switch. the car has the stock radiator out of an r1 in it. looking to run a bigger aluminum radiator out of a honda civic. but does anyone know what temps i should be looking for or where i should cool it down at? i run 4:10 gears in an 8 bolt rear end in 3rd gear, runs about 12000 to 12500 at the end of straights, but it doesn't kickoff the rev limiter.......

Your engine will be happiest at 180-210F. You should have no problem keeping it there with a thermostat PROVIDING your radiator has sufficient air flow through. An R-1 radiator is sized for less hp than a 12 rad and I guess it is smaller.
I'd suggest thatt you do run a larger radiator, really anything larger in area than a stock ZX-12 rad should work, BUT the limiting factor is not really radiator area but air flow.
The most commonly overlooked factor in designing cooling systems is not getting enough air in but getting it out the back. If you have a radiator larger than a stock ZX-12 rad, and If you find yourself unable to keep a stabilized temp, even with a higher temp thermostat, if the temp gradually climbs during a race, you have an airflow problem.

One reason the 12R cooling system works so well is the "Diffusion Cooling" designed into the airflow through the faring. Like Doug said, proper size (volume) AND airflow should yield good results.

no the motor is not dry sumped, it's stock out of the bike, the orig. dash is even in the car, it still has the mileage, tach, clock, the whole 9 yards....runs great, just trying to solve the cooling problem.....thanks for all of your input!!!!!!!!
