madmike why don't you put a good 2 part clear on your rims Ive done a number of my rims whithout problem for the same reason. Even put 2 coats on my marchacini mags just because the stock coating is so fragile. they still look great and a lot more durable.

actually I never thought of it!!! sounds like a great idea! so do I just polish them up real good and take them to my painter? or is this something I can do myself?
thanks for the info!

Yes just polish them up, wash them down real good with dish detergent, and just before paint use prepsol or equivalent paint prep.
If you havn't sprayed before, I would just take them to your painter. I use omni clear or ppg the omni is less expensive and has a little more tendency to run but seems just as durable, both give a nice deep wet look.
If you are going to spray it yourself play with a test panel first and make sure to mix the hardner correctly, you can add a little reducer if you want.
One other tip I use a old wheel balancing stand and slowly spin the wheel to help get a nice uniform coat with no runs.

Look in Gallery to see pics on the Dymag web site of my ZX12R w/Dymags.

It's at the "end" of the gallery section...

Huh?? Explain this with pictures. RCs are 2 piece wheels welded together in the center. No way the "bead" area will crack.

PM wheels are better? lol... thats a good one.
Last I knew RC wheels were on some of the fastest bikes around. Kent Stotz ran them on his Blackbird and Noonan ran them on his LSR Busa.

Anyway... the lightest 2 models of RC wheels are the Tritons and Daytonas. on a ZX12 these wheels are 11 and 9 lbs lighter. Only issue Ive seen on higher hp bikes was that another bearing needed to be installed in the cush drive. Retail is around $1600 for a set with sprocket/cush / delivery. Most buyers dont pay retail.

I got RC wheels on my 12R and i had an issue where the bead section on the front wheel cracked. It was scarey, RC replaced the wheel but after a lot of bitching and threats of lawsuits from me. Never buying anything RC again. PMs on my 11 are awesome, never an issue and the quality is leaps and bounds above RC.
