cams
I understand that if/when I ADJUST the valve clearance, the cams need to be removed. So, if that's the case...
1) What's the purpose of replacing the intake cam with an exhaust cam?
2) What does indexing the cams accomplish/gain?
3) Are these worthwhile mods and procedures on a stock displacement 12R engine (with full exhaust/PC3R/K&Ns?)

The common practice on alot of bikes is to replace exhaust cams with intake cams. The intake cams are bigger in most bikes.
I crunched the numbers and couldnt find an acceptable timing setting for using an intake on the exhaust side.
There is a valve clearance issue with the zx12.
The Bussas respond well to this because the cams in a bussa are very mild compared to the 12. The exhaust cam on the 12 is much bigger than the intake cam on the bussa.
Degreeing the cams is worth a few ponies but it also can chenge the power delivery of the bike. Dont expact huge gains thou.

Wow, ya know it's been so long since I had that done, I can't remember what they were degreed to, but I saw a similar gain in power. I know that Muzzy's has recommendations for the 1270 kit, but don't recall what they were.

Muzzy reccomends 105/100. Mine is 105/105 The low mid high pull is greater. I was running a 16/49 gearing, I have since changed to 17/49. I don't know how it will pull now
