FearsomeK's post on Labusas ZX12R/Busa
Both are speed limited for 02. Just in different ways. The 12 is controlled by the speedo (at the last look at the boards a wee while ago) which is a fairly haphazard way of doing it with it's inherent inaccuracy.
What the fuck was wrong with that 12? All the riders said it was slapping like a bitch yet nowhere have i seen any such reports since the beginning of the year? And as we have seen the 12 is rock solid at Elvington??? Hmmm, what could have caused the tendancy to lighten so much at the front over an avarage bike? Tyres, set up? No bike is perfect, but in my experience, the 12 is absolutley sure footed at any speed.
Anyway,
"Almost like a comic book superhero, the ZX12R is taller, faster, slicker, cleaner, sharper and more powerful than it's adversaries."
"in spite of not being able to accelerate as I'd have liked, it sprinted away from the Busa like a cheetah on heat."
The ZX12R is without a doubt, the fastest production bike on the face of the planet"
"If you want a big, fuck off, out and out sports bike, that'll blow away absolutely anything on the road in a straight line, it has to be the big Kawasaki". "Wicked handling, rock-hard good looks, and a truly awesome motor win it for me."
2nd opinion: "it changes direction really quickly, which makes it the fastest through a series of bends, and it has the best brakes of the bunch. This is just as well, 'cos it's by far the quickest too, clearing off into the distance, leaving the other two bikes in it's wake."
2nd opinion though went for the Busa overall, as he "couldn't forgive the 12R for it's massive instability problem" (was a major slap happy 12!).
Top speed:
12 - (restricted) - 190.24mph. (3mph slower than the 12 they tested in 00)
Busa - (restricted) - 186mph (3mph slower than the Busa they tested in 00)
XX - (unrestricted) - 181.28
OHHH YES!

Instability? Was this guy drinking during the test? I've had my 02 ZX12 for a little over a month now and I have not felt ANY instability. On the contrary, I find it to be the most stable bike I've ever ridden! And if there is a complaint on the stock setup, I'd have to say that the ass end feels a little light under braking. The front end is solid as hell!!! Maybe this jackass didn't have the tires properly inflated??? I run fairly high pressure in my front tire to improve stability (38 psi).

My 2 Cent's Worth
The 02 12 is not as stable as the 00 & 01. I even have been thinking about a Scott Damper. I also don't find it to be as bad as alot of the other bikes. The reason is the steering angle, you are getting alot lighter feel in the front then you did with prior models. The lightness and agaility of the bike is surprising to most. I think that is the krux of the matter. People want to think the 12 is a heavy sport bike and therefore should have hard steering.

Gotta agree, the 12r is as easy to throw aroud as a 6.
Even on rougher pavement when I think it should be bad, it isn't. Very solid, stable, and predictable.
