My brush w/ fame

Was at the Honda Hoot in Knoxville last week. A couple thousand of my closest friends and I rode to Bristol Motor Speedway for a tour and lunch. I got to ride around the track on the way out. They told us to follow the pace car on the apron and not to pass...but, well..I couldn't resist. I rode all the way around halfway up the 37 degree banking with my wife on the back screaming in fear.

Anyway, you never know what kind of people you'll run into on a trip like this. I found this questionable looking guy hanging around the lunch line.

I mentioned the ZX-12R at the gap trips to him and told him of the organization involved and the participation by the local dealership. He said that Speed Channel might be interested in covering the event next May if it was as large (30+ bikes) and well organized (RedElk, Lucky...you guys listening)as I had indicated.
I thought you guys might find that interesting. He gave me his personal e-mail address so that I could let him know about the event next year. I'll send it along to Sherm and Mark.

Steve

Love that guy

That Dave Disbane (sp)? Now there's a spokesman for Motorcycling, shit he even highsided and got busted up on one of his trips to a race school, hope he was as nice in person as he seems on tv.

He's still walking with a limp and from that wreck. And yes...he was probably even nicer in person if that's possible. Very cool guy.

that look

I've only seen that look on your face twice, once when you got off my bike after riding it down highway 33 and the night Melissa was grilling out topless.

Anyone remember way back (I think 10+ years) when he first came to ESPN? Remember when he had to come on the set in crutches? All the car guys gave him a bad time; & later I read he actually was a club roadracer in the Atlanta area, & had fallen & broke his leg.

I guess someone upstairs at ESPN said "quit racing motorcycles or go away" so he had to quit racing. I don't know if this is the same broken leg incident or not, but I'm a fan...
