Has anybody ever ?:chilled fuel.
Has anyone ever tried any method of cooling fuel prior to it being injected ? In the UK I remember seeing an article in "Fast Bikes" by an engineer called Ian Cramp who converted an old pre-injection Fireplace to injection (this was before the days of injected blades from the factory, for that matter before the days of most injected bikes), one of the features he incorperated was the fuel being run through a small air/fluid heat exchanger, actually looked like a two row oil cooler, mounted in the nose of the fairing. As a rule of thumb to get power from an engine you are looking for a temperature differential between intake and exhaust temps (hence intercoolers and heat blankets etc.) what do people think?

Flash back to 1969.
When I was a bit younger we were racing outboard hydro's. The B-Service class was very restrictive reguarding the modifications that could not be done to the engine. The rule book never mentioned the Fuel Tank. Drag racing had been using cool cans for some time, so I applied the principle to our boat.
I built a dual compartment fuel tank. One side held the fuel, the other side a mixture of antifreeze and dry ice. A coil of metal fuel line about 6 ft long was ran through the coolnat side. When using this tank the engine had to be richened up. The fuel tank/cooler was good for an extra 1 mph once we got the jetting dialed in.
It took the other racers the better part of the summer to figure out where our new speed came from, lol.

We used to run our fuel through an ice cannister in the drag cars. This doesn't seem to be done anymore.
Someone must have figure out something better.

pump gas...
Just before I go the the Drag Track I put 1 gallon of gas in the 12 from the Mobile station 4 miles from the track and the bike runs better!!! Being that the tanks are underground the average temp of gas that is pumped out is 60 degrees in the summer and 50 in the winter...
