ZX12 oil problem, Please Help
I need help with my 12. I had the oil pan cut down for clearance and when I lean right the oil light comes on, unless the bike is above 2000 rpm. Does anyone know why this is. The pickup tube was modified where it sits straight up like stock and its a 1/4 on an inch from the bottom. I did this cut down myself using a Adams pan for referance I just went lower. My pan is about 2 5/8s tall total and the bike holds 3.5 quarts. I was wondering if it reads of the oil sensor on the left side or if its really starving the motor of oil. Any help would be greatful. Thanks,
Wes

How close did you follow the adams pan?
If you made the holes too big between the original sump and the new extended side
all the oil runs to the new side and unports the pick-up.
No engine will take that for long. Do yourself a favor and check that oil pan for gold.
IF you are still good , buy the adams pan or a good quality billet.
Not much room for error with the pan design.
Good luck.

Yes you are uncovering the pickup! if you lean the bike over to the right you are sending all of the oil over to the right and up into the cases, away from the pickup which is on the left of the pan...
A Koenig billet pan with swinging pickup will fix your problem...

Does anyone make an oil baffle for a 12? Would that fix my problem?

A properly designed pan would fix your problem. OIl pans are not a place to try something new. Almost good enough is very expensive.

If the oil light came on, not all is lost............
IF you have really good oil in it........, Royal Purple , or something as good..........
I love the new Koenig pan, have not gotten to try it on the track yet though.........., just been sitting in the garage...........,

my oil liglt started flickering on and now it stays on, even after the oil change .......wondering if the gallies are plugged.....and I thought it was an oil presser sensor, not a level sensor

Well it kinda' is - when the level gets low, the pressure will soon follow, illuminating the light.

ok, so how about if too much oil is in there? I think there might have been about a half a quart too much in it when the light started flickering on.......I drained and replaced the oil..(yes the recomended amount) and the light still is on solid all the time now...kinda stumped......just got the beastie running too....
