You Guys Are Awesome!!!! The Rest of the story!!!

Well, Here is what happened -

I was having a shitty first couple runs. The shift light had a short in it. So Ken and I took it apart and fixed it.

Then I started running. I was on a mission to get my 60ft times down and hit that 8 second pass. well...I would have had it....damn it.

I heated the tire, staged and launched the shit out that Busa. The front wheel started coming up. (I was at full throttle right off the line). Of corse anyone with a airshifter knows that your feet are not on the pegs at launch and my short self just could not get them back up there. (ass was at the hump by then).
Bike started coming up too high, I chopped the throttle....it was still coming hard.. I short shifted...too late....with no other options and feet dangling.... I pushed the handle bars forward and tried to get out of the way.

I do not think that I got hit by the bike, but I came down really hard and my leg was toward the back of me at impact. I snapped my Right leg - Femar (sp?) Bone about 5" above the knee. and slide backwards, rolled about ten times. Ken and I have chatter boxes at the strip so I screamed at him that I was down....He aborted his run and came back to me.

The track officials at Staton were JUST PLAIN AWESOME. The owners and crew ran out and stayed right there will me until I was loaded on the ambulance. The local hospitol took exrays but did not have anyone to that could preform the needed surgery.

I desided to get tranported back to Battle Creek. I waa pretty drugged up Wednesday and Thursday and I didn't even know that they had done the surgery.....DAMN GOOD DRUGS!!!! LOL..

Anyway, I wanna thanks all you guys for the kind comments. My Buddy SHERMAN (RedElk) called me at the hospital and so did Otis!!! Ken printed and brought me all of your posts. Your right this is like a GREAT BIG FAMILY!!!!

I am still on some good drugs sp not too much pain. I have about 40 staples in my right leg from the surgery so I am out of commission for at least 8 weeks. My Boss / job is really cool. They have a medical leave that I can take with no loss of pay, so we will be just fine.

THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!

OH BTW!! Here is the freaking kicker to the whole story.....I asked Ken to call back to the track and find out what my reaction and 60ft time was.... GUUESS WHAT...

Damn Reaction time was a .54 and my 60 ft time was a 1.45...... I would have ran about an 8.9 pass!!!!!!!!!! Now that really bites!!!!

Whew!

Angi, I'm glad to see that you're well enough to post! That's a relief. I'm thinking that 8 second run is still coming sometime in your future.

Take care of yourself and do what KZZ1 and the good doctor say. -ZXtra

Jeezuz, Angi...
I leave town for 3 days and come back to the forum and find out you went and smashed the shit outta Ken's Busa , not to mention yr femur .

I have to say that it made me ill thinking of you tumbling down the track, leg floppin' around. I know the feeling of a broken femur, and your spirits being so high a coupla days after the accident is NOT something I could do.

My heart goes out to you. seriously, I feel really miserable for your situation. Keep pushing the button on the pump, and do your PT like a religion.

There was a guy at the track that was video taping. I am gonna ask around and see if I can find out who he was!!!!

I'd like to see that video. But really, if this is what a 1.45 60ft feels like.....I'll stick with the 1.60's!!!!LOL

Glad to hear you're gonna be fine... Sure, it sucks that you missed the 8 sec pass- but imagine if you f*cked yourself up on a crappy pass?!? How much would that suck?

1.60s...

I hear that ANG... The ZX12s and Busas are VERY unforgiving when you try to rush the ET process, I know I dont have to tell you!!!

Hey, look at it this way... At least your 12 is still OK!!! You know how it is when you ride other peoples bikes, you crash and walk away and say I'm sorry leaving them with a wrecked bike!!!

Nice way of getting rid of your competition Ang!!!

I hope Ken doesnt read this, then he will think that you crashed on purpose so that he cant ride anymore, and he will never beat you in the 1/4 mile again!!!

Glad you are going to be ok. You'll have that 8 second pass in time, I know that you won't let something like this get in your way. Get well soon and then get back out there and show the track who is the boss!

My question for you Angi is, do you need to buy a faster bike? And will it have a sissy bar on it!! Harder to fall off the back that way!!!

So glad to see you getting better and in good spirits!
