New Van Damme film "The Replicant"
Well... .I just saw it last night on DVD.... Werked on this project 2 summers ago.. .It was supposed to be slated for major release right now, but I suspect that after seeing it last night it went straight to video for WTC related reasons...
anyways... it's a pretty standard VanDamme film.... but there are some pretty cool parts to it... I am pretty proud of the lighting in the "birthing pod" especially the cool lite I put on the robotic arm you see scanning VanDamme... also the ambulance chase sequence totally kicks ass! We installed ALL the flourescent lights in that parkade, and rigged special breakaway ones that get trashed in the chase... which are fully featured, and just damn fucking cool!
If anyone here has a chance to see the film... let me know what you think about the chase bits etc...
*note I cant be held responsible for a poor script or bad content! I am only responsible for lighting it!

my woman's gotta go to the east coast for a funeral this weekend and I am King of watching bad movies. I'll sit through anything just to get to the end. I'll find and rent it to make you happy.

Fish you have a cool job, how did you get into movie crew work? I used to live in Cali, and I always thought it would be a fun job. Plus union jobs usually pay pretty well.

I saw it last night and yes the ambulance scene was pretty cool. You really have to turn off the thinking part of your brain to get into the plot though.
I hope you got your money up front and not counting on residuals.

they have it on dvd...didn't get it...went to local casino and played blackjack for 8 hours instead....
why...somehing on the dvd I should look for?

Outstanding, I've never seen a chase scene where an ambulance left the ground that much. At the beginning of the chase the ambulance was sideswiping vehicles, leaving sparks and parts then the next close-up would show minimul body damage. At the end the van looked trashed. Simply amazing the van leaving the ground and catching those lights.
