We are family...
Much has happened around here lately. I mean on this site. There are people here who have had major misfortune befall them lately.
At best, most of the people here are casual acquaintances, but most probably they are people whom you have never met. But you care what about happens to them. It isn't like reading about somebody in the paper who had a bike wreck or other difficulty. It isn't like seeing some tragedy on TV and saying "man, that's too bad", and going on with your life.
But why? I don't buy into the "Biker Bro" crap that all these Hells Angels wannabe's go on about. Yet we do share an "us (riders) vs. them (everybody else)" kind of mentality.
Realistically, the main thing we have in common, is that we all spent around $10,000 for an appliance, something used for transportation. That and we have access to the internet. But each of us know that it is more than that, and that a motorcycle is a magical thing at the right time and the right place.
Bikes are what many of us use to make the bad times go away. Just hop on and life takes on a different perspective all together. Some days, nothing is better than a solo ride in the country. I know that you all know what I am talking about.
Some of us have been injured while on that escape machine, a couple of us lately have been hurt bad and lost limbs.
This is a "double whammy" if you will. What brings us pleasure has hurt us; what do we do now for escape?
If you saw these same people on the nightly news, you would probably say "That's terrible, what's for dinner?" and go on with your life.
Yet around here we care. We REALLY care.

We have something special here, let's take care of it.

So true...and after taxes, my bike came to just about a full $12000 though...ouch, it hurts! The price someone pays to ride a motorcycle that makes you feel like your arms are coming out of their shoulder sockets.
