1/8 mile action: Inconsistent but fun!
Well, Warp12 and I met up @ the strip last Wednesday. All last year I ran consistent 6.3s to 6.5s @ 118 regardless of gearings. Spraying nitrous in 2nd and a little of 3rd would only add mph: 6.3 @ 120 :x
Well, decided to leave the bottle at home, which may or may not have been a good thing, probably a good thing given the poor traction and a few botched runs due to
EXCESSIVE SPINNING! More on that...
Get there, bike is already at the 9:00/10:00 temp mark which isn't good (rush hour traffic)....even after 45 minutes or so it hasn't cooled down as much as I'd hoped it would.
This year I'm on Carbon fiber wheels and ceramic bearings so I'm expecting a little more MPH, hoping for another 1/10, and decided to try the drag step seat. Also my stainless muzzy/titanium canister was now a full titanium. Downside is my fuel gauge always shows 1 bar now  so I had approx 2.xx gallons in so that bumped up my weight maybe 7-10 lbs. :x I decide to run without the strap and just enjoy the bike for what it is w/the lowered forks, plus Todd said he may want to try it out on his 02 1k.
This time out I wasn't as focused (ahem...sleep deprived...ahem  ). Just wanted to get some seat time and see how the bike behaved w/the different mods. Gearing was 17/45 and figured w/out the strap anything more would just mean more wheelies. I was right although most runs had the front at 10:00-11:00 wheelying at the end of 1st as the torque peak hit and I slid back in my seat (jeans plus fiberglass). The drag step seat kept me in place but I stick more to the stocker so I will be adding some type of rubber or adhesive to keep me planted forward. I still have a few inches from my tailbone to the 1st step so everytime I would slide back that would encourage a wheelie of course
Anyways:
5:34pm: No burnout
R/T: .656
60': 1.831
330: 4.539
1/8: 7.013 @ 96.79 mph!
Wait....wait I can explain! Spun all of 2nd, clicked into 3rd....spun all of 3rd (meaning I was on the limiter instantly) hence why the MPH sucked! I have never ran a 7 on the 12 in my LIFE.... Now I know how Shane feels
5:45pm: Moderate burnout
.688
1.788
4.428
6.487 @ 120.36
While the ET wasn't there, couldn't get on it as hard as last year w/the lighter wheel, no strap and taller tire the MPH was THERE 8) Shane and I say to hell w/this, lets let the track gets some heat/cars on it. Todd shows up w/Debbie on the Busa. Chit chat but I'm realizing time is ticking so I say lets get a lane.
6:16pm
.501 8)
1.757
4.400
6.553 @ 116.53
What can I say, I really wanted a good light but I tried feeding too much gas....up she comes, back off slightly, grab 2nd and 3rd...
6:29pm
.847
1.695
4.324
6.386 @ 120.44 8)
Thats the way it should be...but even still I'm sliding back and can tell I can't get on it as hard as last year. My 330s seem a touch off but again, the MPH is THERE! 8)
Bike is getting hot....10:00 to 11:00 on the temp gauge! Trying my best to cool it down but I'm at staging already :x Fans on.
6:39pm
.527
1.707 so far not bad....
4.365 still pretty good....ish...
6.500 @ 117.18
Clutch/motor is getting hot. Running naked sounds like a good idea at the strip now  I notice a little coolant from the top of the overflow bottle slowly start to seep out (from the wheelies/temps?) So what do I do....being the genius that I am I get back in line for another run! :?
6:50pm
.826
1.722
4.370
6.511 @ 107 :x
Thats it....time to cool down the bike before I really roast the clutch! Thought about cutting the safety wire on my oil cap and opening it up to let it cool down a little but apathy got the best of me and I just decided to turn the bike off and roll it up to staging instead, letting it run as little as possible.
7:10pm
.797
1.712
4.408
6.504 @ 117.63
20 minutes cooling down seemed to do it more good than 10  but again, a touch down on mph so I shut the bike off immediately to keep the temps controllable.
7:31pm
.499 :x
1.703
4.313
6.371 @ 120.24
What can I say, I'm a bad strapless mafacka! I swear it had 6.2s w/a better 60 and getting on it harder with a heavier wheel to compensate for the wheelies.
7:48pm
.642
1.742
4.350
6.408 @ 120.25
You get the idea
Next run Shane and I switch bikes but due to squids taking too long (not me! ) we didn't sync up so I ran against a stock arm 1k on his b model. Felt cleaner, smoother and a bit softer off the line.
8:01pm
.681
1.755
4.457
6.965 @ 96.67 :?
....Er....let me explain. Launched it and immediately knew I shoulda/coulda given a touch more gas (heavier flywheel). The agreement when we switched bikes was try not to hit the limiter and hand clutch all gears. Well, the latter part I did, but as soon as I clicked into 2nd it spun and hit the limiter....WTF? Hand clutch into 3rd: Same thing  One more time! 4th gear WURRRRRRRRRRRRR on the limiter :x :x Literbike comes by me 6.970 but 113! I did the requisite burnout but:
1) He had the dunlop 200 (nuff said)
2) His suspension was set-up for his weight. I got on it and the bike barely squated
3) The track was poorly prepped that night
4) Hand clutching it actually gives more propensity to wheelspin. Hey, at least it wasn't a 7.0, right? Felt confident his bike had pretty good power (judging by 1st gear one into the revs) Felt softer off the break than my A1, no doubt.
We swap back, one last run and what can I say, we were both off.
Ali: .520 Shane: .701
60 1.723 2.104
330 4.367 5.051
1/8 6.523 @ 109.83 7.420 @ 102.02
We were both down a tenth or so and about 8-10 mph....the bikes were getting hot, track was getting colder, it was time to go anyways.
All in all pretty fun. I'll post the vid of us soon.
Looking to run the heavier stock front wheel to keep the front down, a strap and the seat needs to be set-up for my size so no more sliding. Leathers could have cured the sliding but we'll see.
My hope next time: 6.28 @ 121 n/a, 6.25 @ 123 on spray....
Oh, and wheelies are fun 8)

Yeah, I had 5 runs that were 7.1's, and a couple of 1.8 60 ft's. But the track was greasy, and I was hesitant.
Just to put it in perspective...last season, with good tires, I did one burnout all season and I got into the 6's. Weds night, I had to do 11 burnouts to keep the tire hot.
The clutch was getting hot (13 runs), and I just wasn't feeling it.....
But, the bright side is...that even riding like crap, with track/bike issues....I was .6 better than 1 year ago.

Like I told you way back when you jumped on the scene here, you need to put the nitrous bottle away if you ever want to get any better at riding. That bottle is hindering your ability to learn anything at the drag strip or the land speed racing events.
Take my advice, but the nitrous away dude for a couple events, and I bet you'll be posting quicker ETs and faster traps at Maxton.

Did you read the part where I mentioned leaving the bottle at home EARLY in the post? Apparently not.

Sorry didn't see that. I'm not used to you posting about anything but spraying.

Ran n/a 99% of the time last year at the strip. Reading is fundamental.
