How many guys now have the "Monster" Snorkel from Hans? What is your opinion of quality, function, fit, and horsepower increase on your ZX-12r?
posted October 30, 2001 02:10 PM
quality - A1
Fit - A1
Hp gains - A1
Dyno graph - A1
Actual Performance - half second in the 1/4 mile and 9mph on the top end, same track, same conditions.
I am 100% happy and I am no salesman for no-one. But for once, a very happy customer.

quality - Top quality, as is all Hans' stuff.
Fit - Could be better. FK - Check and see if the top bolt on the left of your lower triple tree clamp is scraping into the carbon fiber. In two installations, it scraped on both of them. Using a allen with a round head in place of the hex head bolt cured that prob.
Hp gains - Yet to be tested on my 1270. However, the stock motored bike went from 178 to 181.
Dyno graph - I posted it earlier.
Actual Performance - My 1270 pulls *very* hard, as you can well imagine. Does it pull harder with the CF ram air? There's only one place to test that out, and the track is closed for the season up here in the Pacific Northwest. So we might go down to thunder hill and run some...

Monster price It only costs 10% more to go faster. The one in south Florida is $1,000.00 and it is an exact copy of stock. The Monster is completely redesigned for more air volume, and it makes between 3-6 extra HP just switching it on the dyno, but when you get it above 120 MPH.....you will be smiling and way out ahead of all your friends who have the stock snorkel!!

CF only on the "Monster Snorkel" CF is about strength, light weight, and asthetic appeal, and of course....function. All Han's parts are CF. We never talked about plastic because it is too much of a hassle to make it, and everyone wants CF. The work is the best on the planet, and you will be very happy with your purchase and everyone crowds around the bike wondering where you got it, and how much HP it makes over stock. It makes HP on EVERY 12r, takes off 2 1/2 pounds over the front end, eliminates all the stock leaks, and puts twice the air volume into the airbox......the result is more HP and speed the faster you go......!!

Nice Description!!!(smile) I like Carbon Fiber...
The only reason that I asked is because I do not have anything else Carbon Fiber. I have all Gold accents and was just wondering if you had solid stock color.
Yes, I am probably the only one out here that doesn't go with the carbon fiber accents!!!!
Plus I am a lightweight drag racer...I Need that weight in the front end!!!
I do like the ideal of more HP and Top End!!!

CF is faster.... You can just get the CF Snorkel, and instantly bolt on more HP. For those who don't have one, you will be the envy of all Ninja riders who don't have one. EVERY little bit of HP helps...it is rather accumulative. A little here, a little there...... The weight savings is always a positive move, but like I mentioned before.....the faster you go the more HP you will be making with the "Monster." When you look at the stock model side by side with the CF Snorkel, you will be very pissed at Kawasaki for putting such a boat anchor on your 12r. It is designed to be "RESTRICTIVE" and leaks like a sive, so you are not really getting the full benefit of it's full potential. Just removing the stock screens removes about 20% restrictions. No screens come with the Monster....you don't really need them. The K&N's will "Catch" any debris entering the intake and hold it there until you can clean it out at your convenience. If you can really drag race your 12r, you can expect to be in the 9:20's with a good rear tire, pipe, Monster, and PCIII, set your timing at between 4-5 degrees....and HOLD ON TIGHT!!
When we tested the prototype at Gainesville, Kcatby picked up 6 hp by just remapping and putting on the Monster for initial testing. He went out and ran I think 9:30 in 95 degree temperature with humidity at 97%!! Just think what you can do in cooler air with little humidity. Just call Todd Noles at TNT Motorsports in Hickory, NC....PH # is: 828-323-1277 and tell him I sent you. He and I initially developed the idea, he built the unit, we tested it in Florida, developed more power and speed.....and the rest is history......You will love it.....!!

The Monster works..... I got mine after reading the kcadby posts..... he is very consistant (natural timing) and he said that the Monster made a difference. Close enough. I saw the Monster next to the stock snorkel and you have to know it will work just looking at it. Seriously. If you are riding a 12 and think $500 is too much money to spend on a high quality highly visible carbon fibre functional piece of equipment, well by all means, go slower.
And by the way, ninjawarrior, I learned a lot from you. As far as I can tell, salesman or not, the damn thing works.

Monster..... helenwheels: the cold air in Montana will be of greater value to you there here than here in hotter Florida. You may want to re-check your mapping too after installation. You will notice the larger increases after 7700rpm, it really starts building the power there at that spot and on up to 11,500rpm. Enjoy...and if you get to dyno it...please let me know how much of an increase you realized over the stock unit, and what the temp. was when you dynoed it! Thanks....

Certified Testing of the "Monster" Don't see why that wouldn't be a possibility. But why take a loner? Just fork over the $486.86 and put it on and do it!!

9.18 et @ 149 mph with the Snorkel!!! Kevin just ran a 9.18et at 149 mph at Gainesville with a 6 over arm stock motor and the CF Snorkel. What other stock bike has run this low time with the stock Snorkel.....must be WORKING!!!!!!!
Eat your heart out BA
Maybe, just maybe it helps make MORE HP....go figure....
