Whoops....I've broken it! - UK.
Hi There,
I'm an idiot.
I own a "Phantom Grey" (It's still silver if you ask me!) 2000 ZX12r A1 which is currently in need of a new right hand side fairing panel, and I'm strugglig to find one without paying kawasaki prices. I really hope someone can help me out.
Bought a new back tyre last week and went out for a spin to scrub it in. I got a Bridgestone 010 nice and cheaply from an old friend's shop. I know what you're thinking - How old was the tyre? they stopped making them about 2 years ago....! In hindsight, I should have taken that into account, but I didn't. I told you I'm an idiot.
And so much for that.
After 120 miles, I'd assumed that it would be run in and went for a spin with some friends. Took a sweeping corner leading onto a motorway at about 75mph, leant the bike over experienced the joy of feeling the back wash out on me. I guess it wasn't as scrubbed in as I had assumed (remember the idiot thing?).
I took a trip across a grass verge, through some brambles (goodbye, immaculate paintwork) and got the speed of the bike down to about 5 or 10 mph. No problems thus far.
Then I spotted the blocks of concrete that had been dumped on the grass verge. I tried to swerve around them, lost traction, the back of the bike spun around on me and I ended up examining the grass very close up indeed.
The bike has come off better than I expected I suppose. The right hand side fairing can now be conveniently posted through the letterbox in my front door, and my indicator looks like the dog has tried to eat it.
Has anyone got any parts knocking about that they would be prepared to part with? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a place where I can get cheap replacement panels?
Thanks for your help,

I have what you want, but it needs to be painted.

You're both very kind.....but I still feel like a pillock!
Thanks for the offer Megabyte!
I'm doing some chasing around at the moment for bits. As a respray could cost £120-£150 per panel, I'm hoping to find something already in the right colour (I'm also an optimistic idiot).
If nothing surfaces though, I'll be chasing you up in no time!
Thanks Again!
