if using block off plates what do you do with....

the vent comming off the back of the frame on the left hand side? leave it as it is? according to the instructions for the clean air mod this vent is routed back to the front and connected to the hoses sitting on top of the valve cover if your doing the mod without block offs like Blitz's instruction. Is this step not needed if using block offs? Someone clarify thanks.

Sorry, been away for a while.

If you are talking about the vacuum feed that went to the kleen air, you plug it.

Look for photo and caption "f" on the doc.

I posted it years ago on "the other site". Is that what you are talking about?

http://www.zx-12r.org/Motorcycle_info/Information%20Pages/KleenAirRemoval_CrankCaseMod/Kleen%20Air%20Removal%20With%20Crankcase%20Vacuum%20Procedure.htm

If you are using the Muzzy Block offs (I did on my 12) the doc is:

No im not talking about the vacuum feed that goes into the throttle bodies. actually im talking about caption "H" in the first documented procedure where you didnt use block offs. Is "H" ignored all together when using block offs? you dont mention anything about it when using block off plates. If so why ? Thank you.

That is the crankcase breather. If you are just going to use block off plates there is no need to mess with it you can just leave it hooked up. As you know the frame on the zx12 doubles as the airbox and if you just leave that hooked up it will just continue venting the crankcase breather into the airbox just like it does from the factory.

ooof: thanks

shipteey: if you look at Blitz's 2nd link you can see what im talking about in caption H. This where im getting confused because there is no mention of this in the procedure using blockoffs.

You are confusing yourself.

The first link above is the kleen air removal WITHOUT using Muzzy block off plates (using the kleen air reed valve covers effectively as the block off plates) AND the crankcase vacuum mod. That is Ergos bike.

The second link above is the Kleen Air removal WITH using the Muzzy block off plates WITHOUT the crankcase vacuum mod. That is my bike.

The crankcase vacuum mod is a completely separate mod from removing or disabling the kleen air.

The intent of the cranckcase vacuum mod is to introduce a negative vacuum in the combustion chamber.

If you are going to create a vacuum in the crankcase you have to effectively seal it off. That is what is taking place in caption "H".

If you are NOT doing the crankcase vacuum mod but just installing Muzzy block offs, don't even look at the first procedure, look at the second one only.

I actually didn't do it (the crankcase vacuum mod) because there were several guys that experienced a flickering oil pressure light on idle after doing the mod.

Now, I can't say if that was due to some affect that the vacuum had on the oil pressure switch (can't see how) or what, but me no likey that....

Nonetheless I documented the procedure for those that wanted to do it.
