I know that he just had a Problem with one of his suppliers that sent the wrong grade of Metal and when he sent 30 days of Machinning to the Hardners, it would not harden up to the correct specs and 2 months of work all gone down the Drain! This really got him behind "More than Usual". He is a Good guy and reasonable prices for what he does but he is only 1 person and is the Only person I also know of that will fool around with our small orders! He made 6 sets of OD Gears (5th & 6th) and gave us a great price. ALso "Billet" Gears will not wear as well as the Stock gears even though they are stronger!

Yep. From what I was told by V.Hill and R&D they are "softer" than stock so then won't BREAK under heavy load, they will "bend"....which is good for huge HP like drag nos/tubo 12s only....

Softer means it wears out quicker, especially on the streets. Guys are rocking 300-400 hp to the wheel and are fine w/their gears!

Good luck

A.

If you are not drag racing and airshifting with big hp and a big tire- save your money.
You don't need these, Seth.

This is an interesting statement, something I brought up to Bear a couple years ago when we were first discussing this topic. I asked about the heat treating and life expectancy of BEAR gears in my 12R on the street.. His reply was they are strong enough for a turbo 'busa. they are good enough for your 12R. I do not remember if his reply was in an email, or if it was a post. I have searched for the posts about this topic and have not found any posts by BEAR .
Here is what I believe is the original thread where I questioned the durability of these gears for street use.http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=1&TID=5910&set_time=
And a few quotes from that thread:
"Are they "streetable" as in properly heat treated to go 50k miles?
Are they "Streetable"???????????????????????????????????????????
I have asked Vincent to find out if the gears are streetable, but haven't heard back from him yet"
Now Vince reiterates my point, "strong" and "long life" are NOT the same thing.

I must be dumb, but I like the Vortex line of sprockets on my track bike.

Actually, I like not only their sprockets but their rearsets, their race stands, ....I'll quit before it sounds like they give me some kinda' incentive to talk about their chit...
