Kawis new rider.

Well!
Remember the post I made a month ago or so about Kawi looking for another rider for formula extreme. Well they got one. Tommy Hayden.

Oh, notice they forgot to say anything about the class that has grown the most in popularity in the USA in the last 2 years. Formula extreme.

Gee, think kawi forgot about that class? Dont bet on it!!

Question??

What bike would Kawasaki run in Formula Extreme. I thought that was the race for liter bikes, GSXR1000, R1, RC51. The ZX9 is ok for the every day average rider but I would think it would get smoked on the track because of it's weight and hp!!?!!

FE

BMW, thats the million dollar question right now. What bike will kawi use to front its Formula Extreme 2002 season around?

The rules would allow the zx9r to be punched out to what ever they wanted. You can run a busa in FE if you wanted to.
But I agree with you, Kawi needs a new bike to promote with its new rider and team its putting in place.

And no one remembers that kawasaki is supposed to be introducing the ZX-10 for next year? Sounds like a great way to promote a great new bike to me.

Why wouldn't they run a 12? I thought you could do a bunch of stuff in that series so they could lighten it up?

Bout the only way you could get the 12 in the weight specs for FE is to swiss cheese the frame. If you've ever read the article on the 'busa that was run in FE, they did a *LOT* of work, and in no way were competitive, unless you were talking about straightline speed. It's just too difficult to shed over 150 lbs off the bike...

Swft, I agree. The zx12r is just too big.
So If they are courting a FE rider still, then what will he/she ride?

The zx9 is a possability, it can be bored and stroked to over 1000 cc. The engine rules are laxed at best.

What about gobert?
