One Last Shinko Question!

Ive seen that quite a few guys say good things about the 003 Shinko,, my question is how does the NON U soft model handle the City Streets? do i have to worry about this tire being that its not the U SOFT,, i know they are cost effective,, and i ask this because i am about to be back on the road once i recieve my Radiator,, but my front tire IS BALD and the back is not far behind it,, and ive been hit with a crap load of bills,, i can afford a set of 003s
(on ebay) for $205 Shipped,, will they do what i want? normal hotrodding around town,, not really getting crazy,, basically a commuter at this time,, will they stick,, and last but not least,, how do they hold up in the rain,, just in case i get caught out there..

thanks Guys and Gals for your input!

You can get a pair of pilot powers or M1's for under $240, shipped, from http://www.swmototires.com. They are much better tires, overall. I have run the 208's, the 003's, and the M1's. The M1 was a great tire, and it hooked at the strip. Handled much better than the Shinko, and far superior in the rain.

you know i rode my brothers cb1000f in the rain,, and he had some older model Metzler tires,,and i was pretty impressed with them!,, have you had the opportunity to run a set of M-3s?,,anyhow i really appreciate your post.. i actually was seriously considering the metzelers,, my other brother has a front pilot power and he loves it,, but you never know when your gonna get caught in the rain,, and i read a post on one of the other boards about the shinko not doing so well in the rain... thanx again,, love to hear from you other guys.

Never have run the m3's. But the M1's did well, and they are a bit cheaper....expect about 3k miles out of the set.

+1 on the M1s....they are on par with Pirelli Diablo or is it Diablo Corsa? Can't remember. They are essentially the same tire (twin/parent companies Metzeler and Pirelli)....a hair heavier (we're talking an ounce or so, negligible for 99% of riders).

Hooked well with my gixxer 1100. Only had that bike to 160 or so but I did lane split once in a corner at well over 100 mph and hit a pothole.....bike was all over the place but the tires did their job....not sure how much of that was the big man upstairs looking out vs what tires I had on at the time, lol.

I had MEZ3s on my FZR 600.....great tire but considering it only had 40something lbs of torque I couldn't assess how well it would be on a 12 one way or the other.

Shinkos are pretty much a drag tire......they are HEAVY so if you aren't already spinning your tires at the drag strip with whatever tires you are currently running (and have tried several different psi) it is wasted $$$ IMO.

A.
