Fuel pump?

Is it advisable to upgrade the fuel pump, when building a Big'N ?

I know the pumps were upgraded on the B models from the A's, do they have the capacity for a bigbore motor, whats the limit?

dunno whats recommended but we use a bosch unit that pumps through 70+psi, made it very difficult to map at low RPM ( we use it on a Road Race sidecar and if we're on the noise thats not an issue ) but we have 196 rear wheel HP , according to the dyno ,with not much work ( cam timing, slightly different profiles , and inlet port clean up)

Thats some power from a stockish motor!

What do you put that, down to, your making bigbore power there.

Bosch do some good pumps and valves, 70 psi is mad. 42-46 psi is standard.
Did you need a new regulator?
Do you not get problems with air in the fuel what with the return feed?
Can they be bought online?
How much?
have you got the model no.?

thanks

If you are building a B model 12 the stock pump will support at least 300 horsepower. Any all motor B model bike will be fine with the stock pump.

Did you need a new regulator?
No
Do you not get problems with air in the fuel what with the return feed?
No but our tank is lower that the injectors if that makes a difference

Can they be bought online?
How much?
It was on the bike when I got it, so I don't know the price or availability
have you got the model no.?

I'll have a look when I get to the workshop

Note I would not use this set up if I was trying to ride on the road as it is pretty crap at low speed

I intend to fit a SARD regulator to reduce the pressure , but I'll do that when we're on the dyno next so we dont loose any power
