Is carbon fiber really worth it?

I love carbon fiber...but does it really make a difference? It can get exspensive, but I wonder if its really worth it on the performance side of things? Or is it just cosmetic cause it looks sooo cool?

What does everyone think?

Seven pounds equals one horsepower. Carbon fiber besides looking cool cuts weight.

Along with the reduction of weight / increased horsepower, handling is effected by mass. Less mass better or quicker handling. It is all incremental. Depending on the depth of your wallet.

I must admit that I find it kind of funny talking to people about what is sensible when talking about motorcycles. Especially ZX12's, busas' GSXR's, R1's etc. What is sensible about a 170 mph plus motorcycle? Duhf! I need it to drive to the golf course!!!

One piece of advice for everyone with a CF front Fender. Tire spray tends to slowly erode the center front edge of the fender. I have found a discreet 3 or 4 inch piece of duct tape on the bottom side of the fender stops this.

Have fun!!
