Front Tire Cupping
I've got about 4,000 miles on a D208 front tire that is showing signs of cupping.
Has anyone else experienced this? I know there are a lot of variables, i.e., balance, pressure, suspension....but I'm wondering if this is a common phenom for the 12.

Cupping is totally normal. Every bike i've ever owned with any brand of tire cupped badly. I'm an extremely hard braker thou.
I've never gone 4,000 miles from a ftont or rear tire.

My experience is that the 207/208's cup very badly.

thanks for the replies, guys.
I'm going to try and get another 500 - 1,000 out of the rear, and then replace both.
based on some other treads it sounds like the super corsa is a good choice for traction and milage.

I'm running the HPX mitchlins right now. Some say they last longer so i thought i'd give them a try. I have about 300 miles on them before winter set in here so i cant say how well they last yet. But they have a nice handling profile and traction is good.

My original Dunlop (on the 12) cupped terribly (with correct pressure).
Have never had the problem with Michelins or Pirellis.
I've never been a Dunlop fan so I was eager to get rid of them anyway.

Yea Dunlops (D207) scalloped real bad on my cbr1100xx. They were a joke.

Normally I prefer the D cup!!!!! But A cups work for me as well!!!! Love a lithe dancer with itty bittys 
A couple things that really suck right now. It is 17 degress outside with a foot of snow on the groung....f-ing Michigan winter, and I'm 10 days out of surgery for sewing my rotator cuff back together. I can't do any work on my bike that reqires 2 hands.
I just ordered Galfer SS brake lines and HH pads, I'll have wait until the shoulder heals and the weather improves, but when it does....I'll burn up the rest of the back tire, and do the tires and brakes at the same time.

yep, i think all red blooded guys like D cups, but on tires littler cups are better, eh?
My HPX has little (A) cups, it's apparently a member of the "itty bitty titty committee"

The only tire that did not cup badly on my 12 was a Pirelli Corsa. I did a track day, followed by 1500, or so, street miles. Wore nicely side-to-side. 207, BT014, M3,BT10, 209,ummmm.... all chopped up bad very quickly.
Actually, one certain BT014 did well....go figure.
On the valve cover gasket..I checked my valves twice on my '00, and re-used the gasket. It was always perfectly dry. I did make sure the gasket and mounting surface were as clean as I could get em, and was cafeful handling it.

I've gone through 22 rear tires in 26,000 miles on my original ZX-12. I usually got two rear tires worn out to one front. dunlops suck! How do you get 5,000 miles out of a tire? I don't do a lot of burnouts just accelerate hard.

Of yeah what's already been stated- cupping is normal on the front tire.
