This pipe is thru Muzzy's clearance.I don't think I'll be extending the ecu yet because the power peaks around 10,000 now and flat lines to the rev limiter.I don't think I need to rev higher to get the most out of the pipe being at 1426 and spraying.I have the Ti-force on the bike now and have a real bad dip at 7-7500 which would be as I'm launching.I'll be interested on how it runs down low because I still ride the bike on the street.

AA,
if i were you and we are pretty much in the same boat, (1426, 1427), i would send the ECU to DaveO and get it done. You don't need the extra 600rpm for pulling, but i view that 600rpm as a safety cushion.
A lots of folks say it doesn't hurt anything to tag the limiter when not spraying; me, i think it does.
EVERYBODY who sprays says tagging the limiter is bad ju-ju. All you need to do is hit a lil slippery spot on the track and you are in the limiter. Extending the ECU is just a bit of insurance.

Vince,
And the 2nd best reason to have DaveO extend the ECU is I'll get a cut!
NOT!

What is the turn around time on the ecu mod from Dave O? I keep thinking about it and if there some scratch left in the checkbook at the end of the month, I may go for it.

AA,
Dave is real quick, couple days max if he isn't off at some track doing his tuning/consulting thing.
Call him up and ask him about turnaround even if you haven't made up yr mind.
He's one of the nicest guys on the planet.

Is it fair to say that you would need more than just an extended ecu for this pipe? Like bigger bore, cams, valve springs, etc?

Shane that depends, if you have a 1270 then probably some headwork and a hi rev limit. Along with the hi rev limit though does go springs and retainers etc etc.

The answer is to you question is yes, yes and yes.
Here. I copied and pasted this from Muzzy's website.
"The ZX-12R "Pro Pipe" is a new design from Muzzys specifically for ZX-12 race engines. Designed for larger displacement and higher revving race engines without regard for "street" performance needs, this pipe is a four into one, large tube tapered design incorporating a high flow merge type collector. The pipe features TIG welding throughout, separate spring mounted head and tail pipes, and aluminum mount flanges. Power increases of up to 6% over the standard Muzzy 4-2-1 pipe can be achieved, but the exact increase will depend on your particular engine's configuration and flow requirements; that is a 1270 with a very high RPM limit or a larger engine such as a 1361 and larger would benefit the most. The ability to run a higher than stock rev limit will allow you to take the greatest advantage of this pipe's increased flow capability.
Titanium system weighs 9.4 pounds, the stainless system is 12.9 pounds
Note: We do not recommend this pipe on a stock ZX-12 as this is not the intended use of this design and performance may not be satisfactory on a stock displacement, stock compression engine."

It also might help If I could SPell BEST!
I have always been Scared of the Rev Limiter on spray. I do not want to rev the Hell0 out of the engine but this is more like a safety feature

AA,
Thanks for the post, I read it last night while in the motel room (we're in Colorado) and ordered me one today.
I'm just gonna hang it in the garage until my other projects get caught up then figure out what to do to the 12. It's such a great deal, I couldn't pass it up!
