I love my 12R
I love my 12 and can't see I'll replace it to race something else. Do u think with the arrival of the ZX14 gradually 12's will disappear from the strips or will people be like me and keep them running? Keith

The end of an era is upon us then! Due to my advancing years the 12 will be my last bike - wish they'd made the 14 earlier. Keith 8/10/1936

In Europe where you can still buy a new 12, They will continue to Rule! Remember they said the same thing about the Z-1 (AKA KZ1000) WHen the GPZ900R (AKA 900 Ninja) Came out and they still Rule the Strip. The Top of the Heap is Larry McBride who's Engine is based on one.

Vince...........What part of Larry's bike has anything to do with a Z1? I mean damn I love the Z1 but Larry's bike is a stretch.. It may still use the spark plug size? All Larry has is a rotating assembly with a Hemi head hooked to a trans and fed by a Blower.. It could say Dodge on the top frame tube just as easy.

Me 3! I love racing my 12, other then the clutch eating problem! the 14 was fun to race and I would race one for someone else but I do not think I would buy one.

THE Concept (Like the "Buels" & "V-Rods" at the NHRA Meets! ) The DIfference is, Larry's bike is a LOT Closer to the Z-1 than the others.
Yes he has a Billet Head, Block and Cases. But they are all designed after the old 2- Valve Z-1 (and not the 4 Valve Later engine of Kawasaki was the point) and really the Bike is mostly the Man himself''s Bike who is no longer with us (Elmer Trett)

As far as the 12 goes, I had to take a step back and ride another Oldie the ZRX1100. Puts a lot of Smiles on my Face!

AMEN The worse part is not that he died on the bike, but at Indy trying to show that the class should be back on the Circuit and ended up cementing the fact that they should not (In their Minds)

I too love my 12, have no desire to sell it for something else.
I've rode 500+ mile days on it and it got me in Maxtons 200MPH Club. Heck even with my fat, old butt on it, I can still run 9.70's.
The bike still looks good and I even like it's style after all these years. True, it's not as smooth, refined or as fast as the 14 but it's a keeper since it's low mileage (30,000). :-)
I found a new, leftover '06 Concours yesterday and bought it........Hopefully as soon as I get the turbo ZRX up and running I can tinker with the old 12 and make it faaaaast!!!!

My 12 is the best bike I've ever had. It's also one of the first 12's made. (Y2K model) You see older bikes at the track all the time layin' down strong ET's and we all know that if you care about your bike and show it the love it deserves, it will continue to perform the way it always has. If the newer bikes get faster... well then, you just show your bike a little more love (NOS) and it will rise to the occation. But I gotta tell ya, with my weight (147lbs) , my bone stock (motor) Y2K ZX12R ran a 9.28 @ 147 at Red River Raceway. That will beat a stock 14 all day. That's not a challenge to anyone but simply my way of saying, don't count out the ZX12R.

Better hold on to your money pretty tight when up against a similiarly equipped 14.

Yeah yeah... I know! But at least it's a Kawasaki and not a Suzuki. I'm certain that if I were take all the extras from my 12R and put them on a 14, I would run better times on the 14. But... put the average Joe (who thinks he knows how to race) on a equal equipped 14 and a experienced racer will embarrass him all day. Buddy, I want to ride that new 14 of yours!

I love my ZX-12R too!
In all honesty, it's a perfect bike... and I'm not just saying that because I own one! lol
It's got the style
It's got the character
It's got the power
It's got the speed
It's got the comfort
It's got the handling
all in the same package. Probably one of the few bikes that combines all these aspects so well without compromise. And let's just face it, when done up properly... it's a mean looking muscle-bike!

I love the 12R it's special, BUT the 10R fits me just as good and it's like a street legal race bike. A ton of fun anytime you ride.
