Cush Drive...Needed?

The rubber inserts in the cush drive of my aftermarket wheels are turning to powder after just about 20 dragstrip runs. I was thinking of having some aluminum inserts machined to replace them with.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

ahhh... I would not do that, then you dont have a cush drive anymore...
what kind of rims... maybe you can have them made into a tougher rubber...
I usually keep an extra set for my RC rims, just in case....

Well, that is what I'm getting at....is a cush drive required for racing? Or just to pamper you on the street? I know that some rims don't even have cush drives...

Did you contact the people at Carrozzeria to see if they recommend a harder/tougher
cush?

You could custom make some urethane bushings like a few have done for RC Comps.

Kosman used to make a "cush sprocket", but I dont think Id convert a cush drive to solid drive.

Ok, I'm just kind of looking for a technical explanation of why the rubber dampers are even needed? I know some aftermarket wheels don't have them.

it is harder on your tranny, if you do not have the cush drive in there. you can run it without them no problem. but from what I have heard it will shorten your tranny's life...
