checking ground circuits

I'm looking at the schematic of the 12, and it seems there are 2 basic ground circuits.

1. ECU ground: 4 ECU pins directly to the battery to the motor (under the batt box, on top of the trans)

2. Frame ground: who knows where the primary grounding site is on the frame??

While my motor is down I am testing stuff and would much appreciate any info you care to provide

I'm not sure exactly what your asking for but refering to the above:

Where the bolt labeled 130B (top right) attaches to the frame is the point of highest possible ground current flow as it is attached to the cable that provides lowest resistance current path to the systems largest current source, the battery. I guess that would make it the 'Primary' ground

RR,

Thanks for the pix!

on my Y200, 130B attaches to the motor near the r rear top motor mount.
The plug on 26011B is the one which goes to 4 ECU gnd wires, AND is hooked into the frame ground circuit.

What i am looking for is the point where there is a ground directly hooked into the frame. The only point i know of is the mounting bolt which attaches the MAP sensor to the frame/airbox. Is there another (primary?) point which grounds the frame???

I'm just looking to assure that I have solid grounds where they are needed.

The factory schematic shows only a single connection to 'Frame Ground' using a Black/Yellow wire but there is no way to figure out where it is physically on the bike though it sounds like you found it.

The only other interesting grounding item I found is that there is a wire that runs from the instrument cluster thru the gear selector plug and and is grounded to the engine. The cluster already has the standard Black/Yellow ground. I'm pretty sure it is being used as an engine sensor return line for the cluster 'gauges'
