pulling the engine

Well, I'll be at it again when it gets warmer maybe.Pulled the engine several times and is a real pain.Just wondering how long it takes everyone else to get the motor out of the frame.Any tips on making it easier?Anyone come up with a jig to mount in a jack and bolt to the front mounts to make raising and lowering easier?

I Use a Big Floor Jack with the Big Rubber Saddle on top. Along with the Flat Coby Adams Pan not too bad. I also use a 2 / 4 wheeler to move the engine over to so I can roll it around

I have a Cheap 2 wheeler that has 2 larger wheels and near the top has 2 small wheels, It has a Handle that has 2 clips that allow it to either be used like a 2 wheeler or placed in another postion for more like a 4 wheeler. Orange and Cheap! If I paid $35 I would be surprised! The Original wheels bent and I bought 2 more large wheels that actually had bearings and paid about as much for the Wheels As I did this thing a long time ago I can handle about 250 lbs which is great!

Also with the oil pan the way it is, the openings are perfect for it! Something you would buy at Harbor Freight!

I have been getting some practice on yanking the motor, last time took 3:15 from rolling my heap onto the lift to looking at the rod bearings. practice-practice-practice

However, like AA, I would sure would like a slick way to get it back into the frame.

Currently the flat botttom oil pan and a bunch of short pieces of 2X4's allow me to rock & shim, rock & shim the motor up into position for bottom rear bolt. Then use a floor jack to pivot it up to catch the upper rear one. Always goes faster when Wideout stops by, yep.

I made a mount from wood that allows the use of any floor jack. It holds the engine flat so it wont tip over.
Wishni could take a pic of it but my digital camera just died.

I used a creeper, and a couple pcs of 4x4/2x4 to balance it, with a tie-down wrapped around everything. Works perfectly, just rolled right outta there!

I've never pulled a zx12 engine, and this might be a dumb idea, but wouldn't it be easier to take the wheels and maybe the swingarm and forks off of the frame, and maneuver the frame onto the engine? (as opposed to moving the engine into the frame?

Harbor Freight. I think it just under 7" height so it could prob be slightly modded to work.

Two people make things much, much easier!!! If ya have a stock pan pull it and slip a small 2x4 piece of wood under for your floor jack, makes it a touch more stable. Take out top mounts and then drop it a little and take out lower mount. Install: slide engine under frame, have buddy sit/lay chest on bike, reach down and pull motor into place while lower bolt and/or floor jack is placed for reverse of removall..................................But I am the furthest from being an expert.

Yes Mr.Hill I was just about to PM you. That thing is Heavy Duty compared to all the other limp ratty ones I have seen. If my motor goes again I think I 'll just pull all the bear stuff off and stick them on the mantle.

Thank you much
