Winter storage procedure...
Going "by the book",you should drain the gas, and run the engine out of fuel to blow out the injectors.
If I started it, rev it a bit, and kill the on/off switch, will the fuel injection pressure immediately cut off, and blow the injectors free of fuel?? I use Stabil, for better or worse, depending who you ask.
Thanks again guys, Jeff

I dont think you really need to drain the fuel for a 5-6 month down time. A year? Yea then I would. But I would start it once a month (if possable) and let it warm up. I often wondered if letting the injector tips dry out, hardens the deposits? I would think It would. In which case removing them and soaking and cleaning them would prevent problems. Or running the engine once a month.
As far as oil, warm the engine, change the oil, and run it for 10 min again and you will have neutralized the oil if it was acidic. Oil used in engines becomes acidic after 2,000-6,000 miles.
Cheep oils with poor additive packages become acidic quickly. Synthetics have larger amounts of neutralizers in them because they are made to go longer between oil changes.

Thankyou for the advice, guys. I'll change the oil, and warm it up once -in-a-while.
The Tender is a given, best gift my wife ever gave me!
My '02 runs so nice, I just don't want to let anything happen to it that would change that. I used to always start em up during winter, but many warn against that. I think it's ok, as long as it runs long enough to warm up good.

IMO, i would NOT drain the gas tank, in fact I would top it up.
I had a CBX tank rust because there was no gas in it...

12R1 if you so start your bike to warm it up, make sure to warm it up completely 100 percent. I usually let it run until the fan kicks on then call it good..

You know I have never set my bike up for winter, I try to ride here in Colorado when we have a nice day, so I just start my bike every other day for about 20 minutes even ride it around the block a couple of times and its all good.
