I'm a motorcycle dragracer, but Ive been messing with the zrx11 and 12's....No where near the same beast....I have a couple of NOS dragbikes low 8 second bikes....
I've only had this bike for a couple of days now...Just replaced the battery, and getting ready to change the oil...I have no service maual yet...So I'm just winging it right now....
What else can I buy for bolt on stuff right now to pick it up some...It has dog bones on it to...It is on the middle hole...How do ya change the adjustment...Where do you have to jack it up from(swingarm or motor or frame).....Thanks for any info....
I'm in Fl....

Hey Paul welcome to the site!!!!
the easiest way that i change the links... I leave it on the kickstand and then jack the bike up under the right side on the plastic mounting bolt under the right rearset... put a strap on a rafter in your garage so the bike does not fall or anything... You do not have to jack it up much, but it works really slick....
also I would leave the lockup off for right now, but if you really want it on. get ahold of NOX... he is the man when it comes to setting up a single stage lockup...
some of the easy bolt on stuff you can buy... Dry NOS kit, Kleen air block off's, it might have them already... and it sounds like you have all of the easy bolt on's on there already... but you can always get a Muzzy 1270 kit... it is a pretty easy bolt on, especially since you have been around bikes for a while... you can do it very safely in a weekend....
well do some searches for any other info, this place is a vast area of ZX12 knowledge, I can pretty well say that someone has done 99.99% of everything that could ever happen with a ZX12...

Thanks for the info Mike...Thats all I was lookin for...Weather or not all that has been done to this bike is sufficiant for racing or not...I haven't found the airfilter yet...Where is it...I'll take your advice on the lockup as I do pretty good with out one as far as launching the bike....I haven't felt it slip (clutch) , just the tire....1ST, 2ND, and 3RD........Got one tooth down in the front and one up in the back......Goes through the gears pretty quick......
Thanks again,
Paul........

I just put a new battery in...When I go to start (sometimes) it sounds like it has a dead battery.....Like the starter has a dead spot...It finally catches and cranks up....It did it when I first got the bike...Thats what made me get a new battery....Bought a yuasa, good quality battery....It only does it sometimes....(weird shit)....

If you are going to drag it and it's got the stock clutch in it thats the first thing that needs to go Paul.
If the A model has one weak link when it comes to drag racing, it's the clutch.

hey Paul, the air filters are under the tank cover. you should have seen them when you replaced the battery... they are a pain to take out but I picked up 4HP just by putting K & N's in... I have BMC race filters now but not sure if I really picked up anything...

Hey Mike,
I'll check it out...Can't beleive the previouse owner wouldn't have put in a good air filter since he did all this other stuff...How many filters are there...???Just counted the teeth on the rear procket....I thought he said one up but there are 49 teeth on the back....(yikes)No wonder it's like a light switch when I try to launch it...1 down on the front and 3 up in the back...He gave me the stock srockets...I think I'll put the stock front back on.....
Thanks,
Paul.....

I dont think you will be happy with the stock front... I am 1 down in front and +5 in the back... 17/51...
I am pretty happy and finish with my shift light on at the end of 5th in the 1/4...
I thought about going back and ending in 4th. just to be a little more consistant...
Make sure you talk with NOX before you put that lockup on!!!
check out the Dragbikezone side of the website... that is where most of the drag guys hang out....

The only reason I am going with the stock front is for street riding...Already has three plus on the back....And just measured my wheelbase 67".....
The guy that had the bike said he had problems with the lockup, said he broke the clutch cable after making a pass,(couldn't pull the lever in).....I don't know...Thanks Mike, much appreciated,
Paul..........

I doubt it was the cable? it was probably the clutch puller or the actual plunger shaft... I smoked 2-3 pullers and 1 plunger, with a lockup...
got any pix's of your bike??? good luck with her!

You need to pull off the seat, the Ram Air covers and the Tank COver to get to the gas tank. Remove the bold in the center of the fuel tank and prop up the fuel tank and you are looking at the tops of the Air Filters. If the Prop Rod is sitting in the top of the Air Filters then they are Stock! if they are Black on top but no place for the Prop Roar then they are K&N. If they are Red on top then they are BMC and you can have no better!
WHile there remove the 3 - 10 MM Head Bolts on the Inspection COvers to see if there is any Dirt in the Air Box (Another way to know if they are Stock because the Stock FIlters let in the Dirt while being Restrictive.
Me, I put the Bike up on Safety Stands under the Foot Pegs and a small lift Kack under the rear tire to take the tension off the Dog Bones. The Center should be the best because the last one is about 3 inches off the ground and the Center is about 4.5 and Stock is about 6.
Make sure you push the Bolts in from the Left side because if you use the RIght side the Exhaust center pipe has to be removed to get the Bolts in and out!
Be careful of Lowering the FOrk Tubes because they are tapered and the front end will fall down. Max Lowering is "1" inch before you have trouble!

Thanks Vincent,Thats exactly the info I was lookin for...Little tips like that to get me started.I thankyou verry much...All that is on my list tommorow.....I will leave the bones where they are at...(middle)...I leave the the front forks alone since I feel as if I'm riding down hill already...Seat is stock...I'm loosening up the rear spring a little at a time to get the right sag for my weight...And to get it to launch good....
Thanks again, will be in touch,
Paul.......
