Just did a 200 mile oil & filter change. There were very small what appeared to be silver like metal pices in the drain pan. Next oil change & filter at 500 miles. Let me get 1000 miles on it & I'll get back to you .

Normal, very small, barely visible metal flakes. Seen it many times. To each his own regarding "Break In" methods. I've been doing it since 1953 so it isn't like I'm new at it . Did I mention that I adjusted the change also .

I'll change the oil & filter again at 500 miles & run it to 1000 miles before changing it again. After 2000 miles I switch to Mobil #1 and change it 1500 miles or more often if I exceed 150 mph several times.

You cannot change the oil in a motorcycle too often and YES I enjoy keeping my bike at its peak .

I got over 5000 miles on my 02 12 (go for the blue color!) and have had all the periodic services done on time by the dealer. Havent had any problems with it. Just replaced my tires at the 5000 mark also.

I had it up to 170mph pretty effortlessly. It still had a lot of punch left too, and a lot more gears to go, but to be honest, I was just too scared to go any faster. Anything past 160 or so really has the turns coming way too fast on any stretch of highway it seems like.

Worth the purchase though...I highly recommend!

191 on the GPS, best so far. More afraid of getting caught than hurt.

I have done my new bike's the same way as Eddy. The excact same way, Wow Oil is not just a lube, But it also carry's heat away from hot area. It cool's and lube's. Very important. Mobil 1 I love the stuff.

top speed

hey all I can say is that i have 9600 miles on my 02 ZX12R, it runs like a scolded dog. I have had the speedo at 190mph and run out of road. (that doesnt take long at 190mph). Am running Motul in it right now, not sure if i like it, having problems putting it in first gear at a stand still, have to feather the cluth a bit to get it to drop into gear. After that it seems silky smooth. Anyone had any expierence with ther Sportec M-1? if so what do ya think of them?

Re; Top Speed....I tested my 00' 12 in Stock condition. I also had Paul Dean (Cycle World Mag.)Present back in May of 2000. In 5th gear at 10,250 rpm (Would not pull any more rpm) it went 179.9 m.p.h. (Radar Verified). In 6th Gear it went "only" 183.5 at the same 10,250.

In 2001, after I piped it and had a map made for it at Dynojet in Vegas, We tried it again out here in "The Desert" w/ 2,200 ft. air quality and the same Radar Gun PLUS a G.P.S. to verify!

Results were 195.8 m.p.h. after only 2 runs. Better air and a few more runs would of yielded higher #'s I'm shure........

Hell,

Yeah, I have an '02 and changed my oil at 500 miles with Kawasucky oil. Have to let out the clutch at a stand-still to get it to engage like you do.

Have had it past 185 then I shit myself and ran out of road (on the speedo). But when I glanced down I had already backed off and really...shouldn't you be watching the road at that speed and not the speedo??? How much feet do you eat up at close to 200 mph glancing at the speedo...well, a LOT.

200 mph = 293.33 ft/sec
185 mph = 271.33 ft/sec
100 mph = 146.67 ft/sec

Hmmmmm... I think they say a good reaction time in drag racing is something like .500 sec. So how far do you go BEFORE you start braking when that dog runs out in front of you? Gravational pull of a "puckered butt" doesn't count! Aerodynamic drag from fat folks like me, DOES COUNT (ya stick boy)!
